    Hi Debbie

I am now 7 weeks post op, knee, ankle, foot pain all part of the healing process so I am told.  Nerves, muscles, tendons all cut to carry out op so they are all sending signals.   Also knees have taken a battering before the op and now after the op.

Keep leg elevated at times of rest, do your exercises and make sure you try to do the one to keep you quad muscles (just above knee) in good strong condition.

Tiredness is one of the healing factors, some days I need to sleep another 2hrs in the mornings after having coffee and breakie... other days I cat nap in the chair mid afternoon.   Your body is needing the rest to heal and that is what is exhausting as it is all working overtime.

Good luck early days for you.. xxx

    Hi Debbie

I had pain in my knee in the first few weeks after my THR. It was due to the muscle down the front of my leg being tight and putting strain in the knee.

I was given an exercise where I bring my foot up behind me towards my bottom, as far as was comfortable, and then hold it for thirty seconds. It only took a few days for most of the pain to have gone.

I am now 8 weeks post thr and spin free.

Hi Debbie , all , I am 18 months post op, I had knee pain and weakness for a year which has now

settled down. My consultant said it was due to skeletal miss alignment pre op and such pains could last as long as the hip had been bad before they recovered.

I guess you just have to keep calm and carry on. Hope things improve soon.

    All the best , Jason.

    Agree with Jason

I'm over a yr after my replacement and had numerous strange pains in both knees at different times. It passes if you keep moving correctly. Imagine your body has compensated for a dodgy hip for yrs and suddenly everything is "straight" again. I thought I reached a peak at 12 months but now I do Salute to the Sun yoga, can tie shoe laces like a kid and dance all night and I'm 60! Thank you to a wonderful surgeon and modern technology!!
