Knee pain after hip surgery

Posted , 2 users are following.

I am 7 weeks post left hip replacement now and Consultant is pleased with my progress. However, when I lay in bed on my non operative side with my legs straight and pillow between I have had excruciating pain in knee on waking up. Part of my knee has dislocated and takes time to heal. Has anybody had same problems?? No trouble before my hip replacement.

Hi Alison. I was informed that our bodies are bent every which way during replacements. I have had 2 knees and 2 hips and it took me 6 -9 months to recover. Patience is mandatory.x

      hi Lyn,

Yes, i can well believe it!! New hips are enough for now!! Both consultant and physio are pleased with my progress so far at 8 weeks post operative. Just glad i was out for the count!!

Glad all going ok with your recovery plan. I sometimes think we expect too much, from our bodies, too soon! The lack of info from surgeons on what to expect post surgery, pre intensive physio, shocked me a bit. I'm at 12 weeks post left hip rep. and each day I feel a little better. Walking is helping a lot. Keep well x
