Knee pain/feels warm/swelling

I’ve had constant knee pain for about six months. It gets puffy on the sides. When I look at web sites that describe the different types of knee injuries, it sounds like bursitis. I haven’t seen a doctor yet because I’m not sure what they can do. I’m afraid of strong pain meds but also tired of not being able to do the things I want, like hiking with my grandkids. I’d appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

You need to get your mind free of concern. Find a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon and have him assess the situation and order the proper tests. Just a guess, a damaged meniscus. Often times, depending on damage, physical therapy is the answer. Them comes minor scoping and therapy and at worst a major repair and PT. No need speculating and making yourself physically ill. 1st see your Dr!!! Get an xray and if you have insurance that allows get MRI. Finding the problem early is key and do whatever it takes to fix it!! I suffered for 4 years with symptoms that started off suttle like yours and now 4 years later find out I need 2 total knee replacements due to bone on bone arthritis. I had left knee done18 days ago and I'm in HELL!! Pain is worse than childbirth!! I'd rather have 11 babies in a row I swear. Please don't ignore pain find out what's wrong and tend to it with vigor! Please don't put off make appointment 1st thing in morning!!!
