Knee popped!!

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum so please help me out. Ok so heres my problem. I tore my ACL along with some cartilage damage in my right knee while playing basketball. I went and seen the DR. said I would have to wait about a month to get surgey. At about 2 weeks before the surgery, my knee was feeling awesome, at 3 weeks, a couple days before my surgery I was back to playing basketball (seriously). I decided to go on with the surgery so I wouldnt have problems in the future. They used patella tendon for ACL and they cleaned up some cartilage. Did the therapy like supposed to and everything was good. That was all behind me till now. 15-18 months later (now) I was playing basketball the other day and it popped hard twice and I feel to the floor expecting great pain to hit me and it really never did for the most part. I got back up and walked around, definitely some pain when walking but not to the point where I needed soemone to help me. I have been resting and icing it and now, a week later its starting to feel good again. Im wondering if it could of popped and not re torn the acl. I can run jump and semi cut on it and its not painful. What should I do?

    Hi

I've been experiencing those catching feelings in my knee too but the physio told me it isn't the cartilage as i thought but the knee cap not gliding properly over the tibia.

He gave me some exercises and stretches to strengthen the quads and so far no catching

Some times that 'pop' or 'catch' felt like a bang and was loud too.

See the doctor and make sure nothing is wrong!!!!!!!!!!!! Better safe than sorry. Knees are funny things and we need them to be in working order.

hi jbeck welcome to the forum . ive been thinking about your problemĀ  for awhile ,its a really difficult one !!! if your playing basket ball seriously your probably very young ,and what we do when were young can inpact on our lives later on when we are older .but in saying that we all need to remember what it was like when we were young and loving the things we did ,then not giving a hoot about later in life and im all for that your only young once . but like the others say maybe you should go back to the surgeon and get an xray/mri to check if there is any damage it would put your mind at ease in the meantime keep icing and try not to play (i know this would be the hardest thing for you ) you dont want to cause futher damage ,i truely hope all is well and you can continue playing as im a real fan of sportĀ  best of luck and keep us posted on how you get on
