    Hi Deb

I had something similar and when I mentioned it to the surgeon he said it would go down eventually, but might take 6 to 12 months it is where he has stitched together the muscles and ligaments. I started pressing it down and massaging it to hopefully reduce the lump. The soreness around it was apparently just the healing process! That seemed to work as now at 18 weeks I can barely feel it.

    Hope this helps.

The top of my scar is quite lumpy as someone else has suggested it will be where the muscle was cut during the operation. I would only worry if the surrounding area became red, hot to touch and painful.

I didn't have one in that area but on two of my surgeries (I can't remember which of the ones now )but I had some unusual swelling in a couple of places. As soon as the stitches were out and all the drainage stopped, I massaged pure Vitamin E oil all the way around the area twice a day and the problem went away but I don't remember the length of time.

Hi deb,I have the same at the top of the scar, surgeon told me it’s where they cut through and prize open so it’s totally expected I’m 9 weeks and it’s not as bad now but I massage bio oil in as well as the rest of the knee.

Bio oil is great isn't it my scar looks fine. I massage it around the scar aswell to help break down any scar tissue that makes it feel tight

The bio oil certainly helped me,my scar looks like it’s blending in and I also used it on all my knee I sure when I massaged it into the numb side of my knee it helped as I am now getting a bit of feeling coming back on that side.

I've got a numb bit just to the left of my knee cap, doesn't bother me it just feels funny when you rub over it

I had an angry lump too. I was worried it was infected but it turned out to be the knot in the dissolvable stitch thread which hadn’t dissolved and had made a sore patch. I pulled it out with tweezers and trimmed it off and it jhealed in no time.
