I had my left TKR in Nov 2018 and had my revision Sept 2019. I am so pleased with my revision. i had a different surgeon for the revision. I was in the hospital for 6 days and was told that thus surgery is a 2 year journey. From day 1 I experienced less pain. i am so glad that i had the 2nd surgery.

i am in similar boat cant straighten leg and can only bend 30 degrees, my surgeon in Huddersfield was brutal! that was nine months ago, physio is making it worse! it feels like it is locked in position. I went to hospital last week for more xrays, and hoping to see a different surgeon soon. i believe the first surgery was so brutal i have missed out on important physio and recovery time! A word of advice dont give up!! Good luck!!!!

I agree with " dont give up". After my first TKR I could not do leg raises, my knee cap had snapped to the side and i walked with a limp plus my knee was huge. . I had a doctor tell me that 20 % of patients are not happy with their TKR. My original surgeon wanted to do more surgery. I insisted on a 2nd opinion with a surgeon who had experience with my problems. 5 months after my replacement and so happy that i did not give up.

I am seeing a new surgeon next week as my knee is locking up has been for 4 months . I now walk with a brace on my knee, I too may be in for revision surgery.

It's been 16 months I have been putting up with this, my last Surgeon wanted to do a lateral release. so I have decided to get a second opinion which will be next week. I am hoping to get to the end of this one day.

JEANNIE...I hope your 2nd opinion goes as well as mine. My first surgeon had me wearing a leg brace too and it didnt work.....a waste of $300. . After my replacement surgery i wore a leg brace for 3 weeks. The leg brace was to allow all my internal stitches time to heal. I have my 5 month check up this week. GOOD LUCK

Seen my new Specialist last Thursday, he said I will need to have a TKR again as the one I had done in 2018 wasn't put in right you can see on the x-ray it out of alignment. I wasn't very happy as this has been a problem since I had it done, so now I have to go though it again but first this has to come out. He said I will notice the difference pretty well straight away , he was very confident he could help me.

      Hi Jeannie,

Its good that you have answers. My first TKR the leg was not aligned properly either. My 5 month check up went well. The only negative is that my knee is now hurting just above the knee. The day of my appointment i did a lot of walking. Im hoping it clears up soon.

Hi I am glad your check up went well, and it's still early days so take it easy and ice. I have to wait till November to do my knee as it was originally workers comp, so now I have had to increase my medical cover to do the next one.

So I am just trying to move on from this till then.
