Knee Revision Surgery / Pain 8 weeks after

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have Knee Revision surgery 3/10/2020 and things are going fine except when I stand up from a sitting position. The pain about 5 inches above my knee is a 6-7 and I have to limp a couple of steps before it goes away.

I had 4 inches of femer removed and I rod about 6 inches up my femer . imageimage

The pain seems like its coming from the rod. Has anyone experienced this? Is it normal.

I have no idea where your pain is coming from, but I would like to ask you some questions regarding your revision. My revision was scheduled for April 13, but it was cancelled due to Covid 19, and now I have no idea when it will be done !! The surgery had been scheduled since Nov, so I can very dissappointed when it was cancelled, yet, also relieved. weird, huh? Anyway, I would like to ask you why you had to have yours, and where you got it done ? If I may ??

    Hi Gmano

I am noticing something similar with my replacement TKR that i had last September. I have metal rods above and below the knee. Mine is an intermitant problem and occurs when I am walking. As i put my heal down i feel pain in my lower thigh just above the knee. My thought was it may be the metal rod or that my knee cap had moved again.. I have no problem walking up stairs during this time. This started 2 months ago. My first thought was that it was from lack of being exercise as i havent been to the gym. I started doing more exercises ...easy ones for my quadriceps...

I have been waiting to call my surgeon hoping it would go away or the virus isolation would be lifted. As i mentioned it comes and goes...more often the knee is ok...but im very careful with it. If you get any answers I would be interested in hearing them.

MARTHA".........recently i was thinking about you and assumed that your surgery was cancelled.

I had a knee replacement surgery which was revisonal with a new large metal implant and metal rod up my knee. I had mine done on Oct 21st 2019. I'm 6 months out now. i still have alot of swelling my ROM is getting better going to therapy 3 times a week. The therapist said what hurts is the IT Band which goes from bottom of knee to top of hip. Which they stretch it all the time. I havent returned and not ready for work yet because I work in retail on the floor all day. My knee hurts more than ever now with aggressive therapy. But i ice it all the time. i hope this info gives you a idea of what i have dealt with this surgery. Good Luck.

Thanks for your response Jill. i had my revision SEPT 30, 99. It was to replace the TKR November 98. After my first TKR I couldnt do leg raises and my knee cap had snapped off and was on the left side of the knee. i was in the hospital for 6 days. I had a new surgeon who only consults on problems. For the first 4 months I had 3 visits and all was well. He let me do my own physio as i knew the exercises and i went to the gym 3 times a week. He said physio sometimes could be too aggresive with replacements. I had my appendix out in Feb and that surgeon said no exercising and then isolation occurred, Actually this TKR has as a whole been less painful that the first one other than my recent problem.

The IT band seems to explain my problem. I will look into it.
