Knee Revison Possible Loosening ?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I underwent a knee revision some three years ago followed by a Extensor Mechanism Reconstruction some two year ago, then last year I had a MUA which has now seen me regain full ROM.

Sadly I'm not making much progress elsewhere and find myself in constant pain, the issues are when rising from a searing position, I have to stand for around ten seconds or so before the pain subsides and I can move. The other issue is when standing preparing food etc, etc without my walking aids I get a sharp excruciating pain under my knee and on the tibia bone, this literally freezes me to the spot and leaves me having to hold onto a surface to take my weight and then slowly lift my leg before I can attempt to move.

I've had my bloods taken to rule out an infection and a CT scan on Thursday to check for any loosening. I'm now awaiting the results of these so fingers crossed.

If anyone else as had a similar problem I'd love to hear from please.

Hi I love the way you describe your pain and symptoms because that exactly decribes my pain and problems every day but could never describe it so well.

I had TKR last June and have this pain and problems ever since...after being examined by the surgeon and an x-ray....( no bone scan or anything else) have been told I have a loose knee...I'm going for a 2n2nd opinion soon...

Why did you have a revision in the first place...I've never heard of MUA wasn't offered that...

I did have an asperation it showed no infection.

      Hi Rose.

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament.

The MUA ( Manipulation Under Anesthetic ) was for the poor ROM, after the Extensor Mechanism Reconstruction my flexion was was around 60 degrees.

I had an x-ray the other week and everything looked fine on that but the consultant wanted a CT Scan doing to check for possible signs of loosening. To be honest I'm not sure whats going on.

The initial replacement was back in March 2013 and right from the onset then something didn't seem right, my lower leg was crooked with my foot pointing inwards.

Wow that doesent sound right...your foot turned in and leg felt crooked...I'm no help to you solarCycles as I'm so confused about my knee too.

We place ourselves in the hands of "" Experts "" trusting them to help us and I feel so let down and disregarded having come out of operation worse than I went in. 😡

Sometimes things happen which are beyond our control and its these obstacles in life that make or break us. I tend to look at life as a case of, " As long as I'm here to moan about it". 
