Knee stiffness after sitting for s while

Had tkr on my right knee end of May this year. i am doing fine, going up and down stairs normally, better than ever. Still some stiffness which just about disappears when walking, but when i sit at the computer for even 30-40 minutes it stiffens up. Also in the evenings when I'm mostly sitting around. Once i get up and take a fee steps it mostly disappears. My question is, do others experience this? I know it can take 12-18 months to be - hopefully - pain free, but just want to know if inactivity causes stiffness in anyone else. No problems in bed - I sleep flat on my back and have done for years. Stiff getting up in the morning, but that quickly disappears.

Hi Jane have had both knees done in the last 12months last one 7 months ago. Still experience stiffness when I've been sitting awhile but have accepted its part and parcel of the healing process which takes up to 18 months. Can live with that compared to the pain I had before the ops so might or might not improve everyone who has this op appear to recover on different levels to everyone else. Good luck in your recovery x

Yes, it seems that as long as everything else is ok, stiffness is what's left to contend with until it eventually goes away - i hope. Thanks for your good wishes.

Hi Jane, yes I'm at 10 weeks and the stiffness sets in after sitting and getting up in the morning. I have trouble sleeping on my back, but pillows now help between legs. Not looking forward to the hairdresser today, sitting for 2-3 hours!!! I have to say, like you the stiffness doesn't last all that long any more. We will get there.
