The 'synovium' or synovial, is soft tissue that fills the joint with synovial fluid which lubricates the inside of the knee joint. Grade IV fissure is basically erosion of cartilage down to the bone. Grade II changed on MFC would be a moderate amount of erosion of the medial femoral condyle. The medial (in the middle) condyle is one of the two projections on the lower extremity of femur, the other being the lateral condyle. The medial condyle is larger than the lateral (outer) condyle due to more weight bearing caused by the centre of mass being medial to the knee.

It appears that your doctor wants to try conservative treatments and wait until the degeneration of your knee causes greater symptoms before doing any corrective surgery.

See how you recover from the athroscopy - and if you are still in a lot of pain go back. I had one last July and ended up with a TKR in January - was hoping to buy time but didnt work. With my other knee I am going straight for for the TKR, Hopefully yours will settle down - those were the results but hopefully the surgeon did some keyhole work to alleviate the situation. Do your physio, ice and meds and see how it goes.
