Knee warm and pain getting worse

I am 13 weeks post tkr. I have replied to a few queries so hope someone can respond to my query. Last Monday the PT discharged me as she got my bend to 110 after hurting me again. Since then my pain either side of my knee is sharp and painful. Also makes me jump with pain like someone is stabbing me. It is also warm and needs icing. I have been reducing the tramadol took none yesterday and had a really bad painful 1 1/2 hours. I am worried about infection in the knee. I am seeing surgeon saturday this week. Wad going to cancel as before PT things were feeling good. Feeling fed up again.

    Hi Jean

Deffo keep the appt Saturday, but in the meantime don't be too alarmed!

If you have infection you will feel unwell, not just the heat in the new joint. People say oh I was fine just a bit of heat but in reality most if pushed would say oh yes felt a little run down. If you are otherwise feeling on top of the world, then get checked but don't fret.

If you still have pain, do not give up your pain meds, they are given for a reason & that is to make you able to do exercises etc without crumpling with pain. If you need 'em take 'em!

Let us know how you get on Saturday. If you feel you need to be seen sooner, see your GP.

Thanks Marilyn. I was feeling really down with the pain but not unwell i dont think !! The issue with getting off tramadol was to go back to work which means driving. But i am now taking 2 before bed which seems to help through the day. I will post after saturday with surgeons results.
