Knocked ankle in cast, caused sharp pain..very worried

Hi everyone.

I broke my ankle three weeks ago. I was placed into a backslab cast for 1 week, doc decided I did not need surgery as no shift in bone, and for two week i've been in a hard cast.

The part of my ankle that is broken is the outer lower bone - lateral malleolus.

I moved my foot and some how put pressure onto the cast which seemed to press onto the fracture area. ouch! It was a very sharp pain along with some throbbing. Now the area feels sore, my foot feels hot and is pulsating.

It wasnt a hard knock, but is it possible that I have broken the bone again and its now shifted? I can't contact my surgeon as it doesnt work like that in my country.

Is it normal for there still to be much pain at the fracture location three weeks after the break?

I really want to avoid surgery and I'm doing everything they tell me to do.

Others experiences of this will really help!

Thank you
