GENERAL FEATURES

Early disc dehydration at L2 - L4 mild multilevel Facet joint hypertrophy causing moderate left dominant foraminal stenosis, most marked at L3/L4. Spinal canal capacious. L3/L4: Focal left foraminal disc protrusion filling the inferior aspect of the foramen. In combination with bilateral, left dominant facet joint hypertrophy causing moderate foraminal stenosis. Disc protrusion contacting the extraforaminal left L3 nerve root.

CONCLUSION

Mild degenerative changes most marked at L3-L4 here with left dominant foraminal narrowing. Tiny left sided L3-L4 foraminal/extraforaminal disc protrusion in cantact with the extraforaminal left L3 nerve root.

I have been on all different types of medication for this including

NAPROXIN

CODEINE

TRAMADOL

IBUPROFEN

AMITRIPTILIN

NORITRIPTILIN

GABAPENTIN

PREGABLINE

BUTRANE PATCHES 5 AND 10 MTU

All of these medications caused me to have servere side affects which was a shame as the PREGABLINE and the BUTRANE PATCHES seemed to work for the pain.

But i seem to have a problem with my left thight it constantly feels like i have pins and needles in it and the pain in my lower back makes me feel like i constantly need to empty my bowels.

docs are trying to get me seen faster by specialist im hopeing they will sort it been looking online and it looks like the only options i have are either nothing will be done straight away / Epidural steroid injection or surgery can anyone relate to this or has anyone had bad side affects with the Epidural steroid injection.

Many thanks Matt

I have spinal problems being on a scooter n ran over. I get a injection as well but i think its cortisone but its my lower bck n the shot is near my tail bone i get it about every 3 months or as i can afford it, but she has me on a low dose 2 times a day of morphine as well as ibuprofen & balchen. The balchen is great but u have 2 take it with ur pain meds. They way i take mine are in the am i take my balchen, tremidal, and other meds including 2 kinds of vitamins. In the afternoon i take my balchen& a ibuprofen, @ night my balchen a tremidal & the morphine. I take other meds as well but not for pain. You should ask for some balchen if ur not already taking it, i also have to ask my pain management to add a extra 30 balchen shes been only giving me 60, but i went to adjust my pshyic meds and they started me on 3 balchens it wrks so much better. I hope this helps. Also try this app ive been recently been using its called carezone u can get it from the play store great app..

I have no medical advice to offer, but reading your post makes me feel for ya! Chronic pain is awful...I have been battling for over 3 years, with some relief from recently getting a spinal cord stimulator put in. I however have been dealing with a flare up for the past 8 days because of my CRPS II, and all I've been doing is sleeping. I am lucky that tramadol does help me some, but I cant do much.

Nerve pain is awful!! I have nerve damage in my right leg from a really bad ATV accident! Keep your chin up, and I'll keep ya in my prayers for some sort of relief?

I have just had a foraminal decompression -my 3rd op- only 5 weeks ago. And OMG what a difference! Having suffered for 15 years with compression and disc probs, the relief I have got from the foraminal decompression is unbelievable! 5 weeks on and I am back walking with no stick or limp, sciatic pain gone, no pins and needles, can sit etc etc... I am what i would estimate at 90% normal now and physio has me lined up for swimming and gym! This after literally only being able to crawl around from y bedbound past! Its like a Lotto win- go for it!

I had 7 caudal epidurals prior to it and these kept me going- if you get offered them take them they are WELL worth it
