Lab Result questions

I would like some opinions on my situation. A little background in January 2016 I ended an abusive relationship. Torn down and low self esteem I've had a couple of casual partners 3-4 in the last year. March of 2016 I had a full panel test done everything came back fine. Fast forward to November 2016 I had a regretful night with someone who was more than the definition of out there. I had a virus maybe 2 weeks later but I believe it was from traveling somewhere with the opposite weather. In mid December I begin seeing my current partner after our first sexual encounter I experienced some vaginal irritation without discharge and my butt was kind of itchy. I was tested on Jan 8 for standard stds everything was fine prescribed something for bacteria vaginosis. Jan 17th I requested HIV and HSV testing. Due to the one encounter in November. Results came back HIV negative and positive for both HSV 1/2. A very high hsv 1 which I expected I've had canker sores for as long as I can remember. HSV 2 came back at 1.3. Devastating. I've researched a lot and even my doctor consult recommended retesting due to false positives. Since test only my outter butt area slightly itches here and there throughout the day. No sores have appeared inside or outside. The pubic area isn't a problem besides normal in grown hairs clearly distinguishable from a sore. My questions are:

1) How likely is it that the results are act?

2) When should I retest? I tested 11 weeks after the suspected exposure date.

3) would it be okay to do the same test over?

4) lastly, is there anyone who knows of labs in the Florida area who offers the biokit confirmatory test?

The test was for IgG, right? Sounds like it, but just checking. Pre-existing HSV1 can cause a low false positive for HSV2 if using the HerpeSelect kit. If you can find another test kit, that would be good to help reconfirm your results. Alternatively, there's the costly University of Washington western blot test. Testing at 11 weeks is already good. You can test again any time, but the results will likely be the same or similar if you use the same kit. Incidentally, canker sores aren't related to herpes/cold sores.

Any suggestions on other kits besides the western blot? Being that many labs won't facilitate the blood drawing and shipping. I've never really had a problem with cold sores maybe once a year.

EuroImmun is supposed to be good without this potential cross-reaction issue, but it's European, so I'm not sure of its availability elsewhere. The biokit you mention is another, but you'll have to ask your clinic or call around to find out where you can get it done, unless someone here knows.

Hi, I'm curious what your hsv1 number was? My first test I took was hsv1 15.5. Hsv2 1.2. I have since taken two Western Blot tests and both have been negative for hsv2.

I'm always curios when someone post a statement about a high hsv1 number.
