Labyrinthitis and tinnitus

I was diagnosed by my GP late july. I developed tinnitus early august. I got my MRI scan done to rule out anything major and thankfully it came back normal.

Mine started off with a viral infection somewhere. I was okay for 2 weeks. No triggers no dizziness then it started off again on the 22nd of july and it got worse at the start of august.

My tinnitus is mild. I can only hear it when its quiet. ( worse at night )

I still experience slight swaying and feel lightheaded and unsteady when im in shopping centres or i go for a walk somewhere.

I cant tell if my tinnitus is fading or not. My anxiety is not allowing me to.

Has anyone developed tinnitus as a results of labyrinthitis and did it fade away completely over time ??

Thanks.

I have ringing or sounds a lot of the time. Mine has not gone away in 2 years.  Mine also started out as a viral infection and all the doctors and specialist said 3-6 months and you will be better.   That has not happened.  Get into PT as soon as you can. They can check to see if the crystals are dislodged and can do PT to help.

I have no loss of hearing thank goodness.    They ringing comes and goes.   The vertigo at times is less than others.  Every day when I get up I have to hold onto walls because of balance being off.   When I walk I stagger a lot and can’t keep my balance.  I walk with my feet apart more for balance.  If I go to the store I have to be holding onto a cart or I look drunk.  The isles , shelves and people are very hard to handle as they all move.  I have never been anxious or had anxieties. Anyone who knew me before this all started has said that is has really affected you and your life.   I cannot drive more than 15 minutes without being sick to my stomach.  Everything moves when I drive.  I cannot drive on interstate!  I use to drive anywhere in the US by myself with no issues.  If I ride more than an hour I have to take nausea meds and I don’t eat or get very sick to stomach.   I am sorry this seems like I live gloom and doom but I can walk!  Even with a cart!!  I can love on my grandkids!!  I can love on my understanding husband!   I am not giving up on life.   I haven’t been able to work very little in the past 2 years and have just recently applied for disability

I know I will probably be denied but I have got to try

I am very sorry to hear you are struggling. It really is a tough illness. You seem to have chronic symptoms of this and its really frustrating.

I am only a few weeks in. I hope i get better soon. The one thing i do wish to get rid of sooner than ever is my tinnitus.

Hire a lawyer for your disability. If you’re on facebook , There is a group on  facebook called “ vestibular hope”. There are plenty of people who have are dealing with the same thing and many have applied for disability and got refused , but they hired a lawyer and they got accepted. Dont give up. Hang in there. My dad got labyrinthitis 15 years ago. He was on meds for 2 years. He’a doing a lot better now. Although his symptoms are chronic and they do flare up sometimes, he says he’s doing alot better now. Wishing you the best of luck.

Yep. Terrible. I asked a few people and they said they had it before and it goes away after a couple of months.  Depends on how high and bad it is. Fingers crossed we get rid of ours soon. Dont think i can live with mine for too long.

I have all the symptoms you have. But I have a non working gallbladder and Gallstones. All these issues started after having digestion issues. Do you have other health issues? I see tinnitus , vestibular issues as side symptoms of other core health issues.
