Labyrinthitis for 6 weeks, still feel as if the worlds in motion!

I’m new to this discussion.  I am now in week 6 of labyrinthitis, or at least that’s the current diagnosis from my GP.  Symptoms of vertigo and nausea were really severe in the first week and I was given stemitil medication which I used for the first couple of weeks.  I have had to take time off work, tried to return a couple of weeks ago but only managed two days before I had to go off sick again as the symptoms were too bad. I’m now due to return tomorrow.  The symptoms are nowhere near as bad as they were when it first started but I am left with a constant feeling that everything is moving and a heavy foggy feeling in my head, my surroundings just don’t feel right.  I am doing my best to cope with it and just get on with things but by the end of the day I’m exhausted! I’m a bit prone to worry/anxiety which I’m sure can’t be helping but I’m so worried that this is never going to end.  My GP hasn’t suggested any other investigations yet to rule out other issues or to seek vestibular rehab exercises but I wonder if I should push for this.  This whole thing is starting to get me down, just want to get back to normal.

ask your doctor to send you to see ENT if it's your ears are causing the problem he will send you for vestibular exercises. Did you have anxiety and stress before this started ?

Let me know how you get on x

    Hi,

I have been diagnosed with BPPV since a year ago. My life was completed change. All most every day I feel sick having different symptoms. I have seen my GP several times. At the end my GP decided to send me for blood text and then to ENT specialist who send me for MRI....I'm still waiting for my results.... Was a long period to wait for appointment and results. Everything is moving very slowly....!!!!!. At the beginning of my symptoms I done Eplye Monuvre ( see YouTube) . This Manuvre helped me a lot with my dizziness and losing my balance...!!! Take care and try Eplye Monuvre for a period of time...

Hi, sorry that you are suffering too.  Did you get your BPPV diagnosis via ENT?  I’m not sure my issue is positional as it doesn’t seem to relate to having my head in any particular position anymore just an all the time weird sensation of being in motion.  I have tried some of the Brandt Daroff exercises but not epley manoeuvre as I’m not sure I would do it right without help from a professional but worth a go.  I hope you feel better soon.
