Labyrinthitis help

I'm on day 10 of my labyrinthitis now, apart from the odd spell of being unbalanced, is it normal to have chest pains similar to heartburn and palpitations ?

I just want to get back to normal now

    Hello Emma,

If this has been officially diagnosed as Labyrinthitis by your GP then presumably you will have been given medication - these do work for me, but the tablet information says they can make some people feel a bit groggy.

Some medicines work by 'turning off the balance signals from the left and right inner ears' and then 'rebooting the system' as the medication is reduced. (that's how Hosp told me mine worked).

The NHS website has some very useful information about this condition:

    http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Labyrinthitis/Pages/Introduction.aspx

The condition does settle down (but can reappear) - so it's usual to keep a supply of tablets in the home or even carry them.

It has been diagnosed, hence why I know exactly what it is.

I was given stemetil, I don't know if they have helped as I'm not sure what it would be like without, I am considering stopping the medication but on the other hand I'm scared the seasickness symptoms return

There is a Doc here, he might be able to help you, he goes by the name of lefthario, you might want to look him up, he is real good! I feel your pain, i wish you a quick recovery, but the heartburn may be coming from the meds i would think, try taking them after a meal or talk to you doc, i hope the doc in here can help you, blessings!

Mixture of meds and anxiety will do it Emma most times . I had to stop Stemitil because of those symptoms . Only time I had heartburn . Anxiety plays havoc also with having balance issue . Think it's down to trial and effort what works for some doesent another . Do you have tinnitus ? That again quite common along with any balance issues . If yes then you need to get to see ENT consultant .

No, I don't have tinnitus, the only symptom I have now is really the palpitations, the heartburns seems to have gone after taking some cider vinegar.

I'm considering stopping the stemetil, just scared that the other side effects will come back and I'm desperate to get better so I can go on my honeymoon.

I'm assuming if the virus was still live that even with medication I would still have some effects of it

Id say at a guess it's a med doing it and anxiety . When you over breath Emma due to Labs that again will give you palps . It's a combination mixture of everything doing it ,and overthinking we forget that one . Never Google lots make that mistake . Go have a word with female Dr if poss ,they tend to listen better . Miserable not feeling right ,you get desperate wanting a cure . Go see the dr .

There's not a female gp at my practice right now, I have an appointment on Wednesday so I'll see how I am then, might come off the tablets, I've been on them for 9 days now, I'm going to try and stop stressing out too cause I dunno what I'm getting stressed about haha then I'm going to get a new gp !
