Lack of sleep

Posted , 11 users are following.

I recently split my 7mg dose of prednisone to 5mg at bedtime and then 2 mg at lunchtime. I am now waking at 4:00am 😫

I did take the 7mg at bedtime and had no problem sleeping but found I was in pain during the day.

The pain has gone but the sleep pattern has been disturbed. Should I return to taking my steroids at bedtime ? Any suggestions welcome!

When I wake at 4:00am I’m having a cold sweat!

I take 60% at 2am and 40% at 2pm. Since I have been doing this I have no pain. Also I am sleeping better. Take a couple spoon full of yougart when taking the pred.

I also take my first dose at 2am then when i get up around 8.30 prob about 1/3rd then 2/3rd. I think a lot of older people have problems sleeping its just the way it is. If changing the times or dose maybe you need more pred to control the pain, no good reducing if you have pain. Good Luck.

You could try taking your bedtime dose at 4am of course.

I'd try taking the 5mg at 4am when you wake and the 2mg a couple of hours before you expect the pain to return. And THAT of course will assure you sleep until later!!!!!

Hi Anne , I take my pred 5mg at 7am and 4mg at 7pm ans sleep well, better that when I took 10mg all at one. I also do the reducing at night  as I find this ok, I do know some people don't sleep well and some do.

I find the pain in the morning, is. Neck and shoulders go after about thirty mins after my five mg dose, and usually lasts till the seven pm dose depending what I have been doing that day

someone better informed than me will bealing to let you know more.
