Lactose free snacks UK

looking for reccomendations on snacks free from lactose for my 6 month old son. I weaned early due to him not gaining enough wait due to his intolerance. Doing great so far and his weight is coming on great! So far we eat pureed fruits and veggies, lactose free yogs (still containing cows milk), toast and appropriate crisps...im looking to widen his snack range and am wondering apart from the obvious fruit and veg sticks what other things are there from the UK food market that i can give him. This doesnt have to be age appropriate as it will be good to know what to give him later on down the line if he doesnt grow out of it. Thanks in advance.

Surely your GP has referred you to a dietician? If not, do you still have a child health professional (whatever they are called these days) or is he being seen by a paediatric specialist because of the intolerance? In which case they should be able to arrange a dietician appointment.

PS - the crisps are salt-free I hope? Salted foods are not suitable for babies and toddlers (any age if it comes that).

Yes we have a health visitor. And yes he doesnt get any salt. Its crisps aimed at babies! Organix puffs mostly

Have you tried making your own?

Should have said - many cheeses are naturally lactose-free and the range of lactose-free ones does seem to be improving. But I can't really tell - I live in northern Italy, the land of the lactose-free and gluten-free everything as they are both common conditions.

Lucky baby to have a mummy who cooks for him! I cooked for mine too. We ived in Germany then so they got the usual German rye bread with cheese or ham for snacks - but in the UK even that is a problem, lactose gets in all sorts of places doesn't it? But fruit and veg is always safe as well as being healthy.

No-one seems to be offering suggestions - I wish I could but I have no idea what the UK has these days. That's why I suggested asking for a dietician appointment - that is what they are for after all.

      All the very best.

PS - how about this blog? Bit US but lots of snack suggestions

      http://www.milkfreemom.com/milk-free-snack-ideas/

I googled lactose-free snacks and got a load of links - and even one with a range of junk-food snacks (like Oreos) since everyone needs to be able to have a bit of junk once in a while!
