Lady Problems! Need advice!

So, for awhile now I’ve had “painful periods” especially leading up to it and the first couple days, then it subsides. It’s very, very heavy the first two days. Lots of cramping, even some nausea at times. I swear my periods have gotten worse since I had my son over 2 years ago, but they were still bad before that.
The question I have about it is that the first day, when it’s really heavy, I have random pains in my rectum too. I get gassy during my period and sometimes my anal region will have a really sudden and sharp cramp-like pain that will take my breath away and then after a few seconds it goes away. What is this?? Another thing- I also feel soreness in my vaginal area during this time of the month. Are these things normal???

Hey Hope, I think anythings normal. It depends on the individual. Every woman's different. I will say though that what you're experiencing sounds like a pain literally! I don't think there is anything seriously wrong but you are clearly suffering which isn't fair. You probably dread your period coming round. Have a chat with your doctor. After having my first child I can honestly say it was years before I felt my bladder. It's hard to describe, but you know when you need a wee and you can feel that your bladders full, well I couldn't really feel it. I ask the doctor and she said "when" you're carrying a baby, all your internal organs get squashed. And there's the explanation. It's definitely worth making an appointment honey, keep me posted, Donna xxx

I'd see your doctor just incase but in terms of the anal pain I get this, I've had it for years except for mine it's not just linked to periods, it is completely random as you like. It's called proctalgia fugax and it's exactly as you've described ... A super sharp stabbing pain eminating right in the centre of my bottom, and it spreads through the rectum area and sometimes lower groin. Makes you arch you back it hurts that much and takes your breath. Lasts a few minutes, then it's gone.
Occasionally I get the sudden urge to go just after but not always.
As for soreness, I found switching to clothing sanitary towels stopped this from happening .
