Lapidus Bunionectomy next month!! Scared - what can I expect??

I've had bunions on both feet since I was a teenager, i'm now 24 and they cause me a lot of pain so have decided to have the lapidus bunionectomy on my left foot mid April. I was just wondering if people could share their experiences i.e when they got out the house to do day to day errands, when they were back in normal shoes etc..?

My birthday is 10 days after my surgery, I was wondering how possible it is that I will be able to go out the house and go for dinner for example? I have received an explanation pack to say the first 2 weeks I will need to rest with elevation and then up until the 6 weeks it doesn't give too much details on recovery except to 'rest'. When did you find it was okay to go out for dinner again or go and sit in the park? Is it a bad idea 10 days after to go out for dinner and should i start planning to have a birthday on the sofa? haha!

Some of your experiences would be greatly appreciated as I am a bit apprehensive.

Thanks

Zoe
