Hi Lara:  My incision was posterior and the incision is healing nicely.  After  atotal of 32 surgeries and many scars on both legs die to bilateral hip dysplasia.  My surgeon was able to pull 3 scars into one.  The skin is tight but it has healed nicely and it had 41 staples.  I don't worry about my scars any more as long  as I have no pain and I can walk and take care of my family. I guess I look at it as  reminders of my journey.  I do put Vitamin E on it  after each shower.

sorry Stacey - unable to display page -

I am not sure what you are trying to tell me here - are you worried about your scar?

Yes, I know I am supposed to wait and be patient but I have a girlfriend who had surgery(well torn Achilles) a month before me and her scar is already just a thin white line.  Mine is still pretty red.  Everything is healed but it looks kinda scary.  And there is a dent in my leg where the scar is.  I know I ma supposed to wait a year, but I like swimming and I am now hesitant to go in the water.

      oh stacey ...

don't do that to your self ... you had major surgery so there is a scar - and a dent ... so what?

you are no longer in pain and soon the scar will be hardly noticable -

wear it with pride, darling ...

      angel blessings

Hi.  How long did it take for Lara's scar to look like that.  I had anterior approach too but my scar goes downwards rather than sidewards.

I think of my scar as a badge of honour. For my revision surgery they had to clean out the infection around the bone so my scar goes from half way across my left buttock to 1/3 of the way down my thigh. For the moment it's quite indented but I imagine it will fill out in time. It's just a shame that much of it is covered by my bathing costume!

But I am pain and infection free and can concentrate on getting back to full mobility. Hopefully you are also pain free and getting back to normal.

    Mike
