Several people said they used lard for moisterizer, among other suggestions. To me "lard" means Crisco.  Do they have Crisco in England?

Lard is refined pig fat.  It is white and sold in slabs like butter never heard of Crisco.  It used to be very popular in the Uk for cooking and particularly pastry but then received lots of bad press about high in fat chloresterol etc and everyone stopped using it and swopped to oils and margarines.  Now of course they realise lard is better for you but it has not regained its popularity.

I had not thought of using this but I am getting so sick of the smell of coconut oil I might try it.  Used so much coconut oil it makes me quite nauseous plus it stains everything

Thanks. Crisco is a cooking fat but don't know what it is. I think I'll try that Aquafor(sp?).

Sally Cisco is a vegetable based product so will not be the same.  Lard also is known in a slightly different form as Tallow which is what candles used to be made of and Tallow was used for centuries in medicine for suppositories etc it has antiseptic properties.  Perhaps if you look for Tallow instead of Lard.
