I was really sick - for months. I had huge fibroids pressing on the walls of my bladder and suffered from bladder infections for almost a year. I thought the antibiotics were not working, but it turns out that I couldn't flush the infection out as the fibroids were squeezing and squishing my bladder. I retained so much water and was so swollen.
I am now 3 months post embolization. I got it done through my groin. I wouldn't suggest the wrist as your exposure to radiation is increased. In any matter, I felt relief and was able to go to the washroom within 3 weeks. I haven't had any antibiotics since March and am infection free. It was the worse time of my life physically, but I am getting better. My only regret is I let it go too long, trying natural remedies. I highly recommend this as my quality of life has really improved.

Hi Amanda
I had it done January 2016. My Fibroid was 10cm at the time. The surgery was not bad. Was scary like any op the worse thing was the morphine sickness and a bit of period pain afterwards other than that it was ok.
I had a follow up 6 my months later and it had shrunk to 7.5cm unfortunately no more shrinkage but it's helped massively. Pre op I could not leave the house during my period as I was flooding blood. Now my period is very heavy but at least I can leave the house. I had hoped for more shrinkage and lighter periods but I will never regret having it done. It was worth it to avoid Hysterectomy which is not an option I will ever take.
I am. Now pushing for a Myomectomy which I may not get but it's not impossible that I may still get more shrinkage from UFE ( it can shrink for up to 2 years post op. If you want to know any more let me know. I highly recommend this procedure. Good luck

Hey thanks for your reply . Can I ask did the procedure reduce your heavy bleeding (period wise)?
I am going to go through with it but can you tell me your experience of the day and what happens? I have a Fare idea but nice hearing from experience.
Can I ask how old you are and do you have children? Ive a daughter age 11 years old and I'm a single mum age 36 so I'm blessed with her and contend but just want to know the what if and I know a small per cent age have baby's but how are they lucky to have a baby ?
Is it less eggs produce or carry a baby does work out for some women or is it both ?

My fibro right now large , I don't have heavy period but some times discomfort and on and off bladder problems. The fibro being growing the last 11 years . As time goes on it will get bigger and if I was lucky to meet some one in a year or two I can't just say have a baby unfortunately it will get even bigger and could dangers so I have to go with logic .

Hi Amanda
When I had UFE my periods changed from flooding to heavy which is not ideal but a big improvement. Also I no longer have bladder problems I was constantly needing to wee as was pressing on my bladder so that has gone. Still Anemic due to heavy period. What you have to remember though is I only got 25 % shrinkage instead of 50%.
I was in a bit of pain afterwards but it really wasn't that bad only if I tried to walk as they went in through my groin so that was sore.
A month later the pain went. I am really a wimp when it comes to pain so if I can handle it anyone can. There was constipation. As well but that didn't last long. I was only in hospital for one night as I got an infection but it was fine more of a precaution.
I am disappointed I didn't get more shrinkage but I'm hoping hoping that gives me more treatment options than pre op.
Regarding fertility I don't want kids so that was not an issue. And I am 50 years old nearly 51.
