Large lump on lower penis shaft?

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have had a large lump on my lower left penis shaft for quite a while now, possibly 6-12 months but have never been really bothered by it. I am 16 years old now and I still do not know what it is and am scared to tell anyone.

The lump is about 1cm in diameter, and has recently developed a greenish tinge to it. It in painless, feels quite soft/squishy (not hard) and releases a small amount of creamy pus when gently squeezed. It does not itch and is painless - but it is still worrying.

Here are some images to give you a better idea:

If anyone has any idea what this might be, what has caused it, if it is dangerous or how it can be treated then please respond ASAP!

Thanks.

    Hi George

This is I'd guess a sebaceous cyst.  Not serious and the fact that you can get some pus out is a pretty conclusive sign.

No idea what causes them but it's not an infection or STI - they just happen. What to do?  The medical profession would probably say "do nothing" but I had one years ago and got rid of it simply by bathing with hot water and squeezing it hard and carefully so as to get rid of everything inside.  You need to make sure that your fingers are clean and ensure that you do not obstruct the exit of the pus [it may not - strictly - be pus; not that it matters!].  You need to get pressure behind the spot so that you are not putting pressure driving the matter back.  The problem is that this may not get rid of it and if that is the case you may need a very minor operation.  If I recall correctly these cysts - and cysts in general - have a capsule which is caused by a special layer of cells [i seem to remember that they are one layer of cells thick] and this capsule makes them difficult to eliminate unlike spots and boils which go away when dealt with - or spontaneously

Best of luck with it; do not worry ...

    Hi George

I wouldn't worry too much about it but you must have it looked at by you GP - if only to give you reassurance.  Have you had sex (vaginal or anal) with anyone who might have had a 'sore'  I wouldn't have tought that it is anything sexual but do get it looked at.  Why be scared -- you've shown your cock on the images you provided.  Good luck and best wishes.  Jon

Definitely worth getting it checked out by your  doctor. There's no need to be embarrassed about it cos doctors really have seen everything

Cycletours is right, George.  Let the GP have a look at it.  I suspect Davy is near the mark.  Good luck

Thanks for the response everyone. I have been squeezing it every few hours in an attempt to drain all of the pus, which is slowly coming out. It's relatively thick and creamy in colour - there is also a small amount of colourless liquid that comes out too. It does seem to have reduced in size by a very small amount, so hopefully after a few days of draining the pus/liquid out it will start to get smaller?! If not then I think I'll have to brave up and go to my GP.

    Thanks!

Well done - as another says GPs really have seen it all.  If it does not go away after your "efforts" then before seeing GP let it settle down. The fluid that comes out is not significant.   If I am right about it being a cyst then what comes out is probably not pus but a mixture of sebum [an oil produced by the body] and skin proteins.

Best of luck to you ...

    Hi there,

My boyfriend has this same problem and I'm wondering if you could let me know how this problem has been resolved for you?

He's been very worried about it, and I'm looking for some help/information to give him some peace of mind.

He is very timid about going to the doctor to have it looked at.

    Thank you!
