Large Ovarian Cyst waiting time?

I went to the gym in October and thought I pulled a muscle in my stomach, but it was really painful so ended up going to the doctors. They referred me for a scan and I ended up being referred to a consultant. I have been diagnosed as have an Ovarian cyst 10 x 10 x 8cm. My stomach is huge and I have been on painkillers for 7 months now. I was not expecting that news from the scan as it was explained as a small cyst, which may need keyhole surgery. Very shocked to find out it was that big and I may need to be cut open and possibly have an ovary removed too. I have a 12 - 16 week wait and am feeling pretty nauseous with constant bad back pain (my job involves standing up most of the day) which I am struggling with. My stomach is getting huge and I am a petite person. I am not sure I can manage 16 weeks wait, I will also have to postpone the op if that is the case due to circumstances, cannot believe the timing of it all. I have been told to go to A&E immediately if in pain as my ovary may twist. I cannot sleep as it is so uncomfortable I am having to turn every 15 minutes or so and am constantly tearful, which I cannot control. I am now eating little and often, getting indigestion and also pain in my hip too, just a few of many symptoms I am experiencing. Does anyone have any experiences of the waiting time they had? Or experiences of laparotomy or laparoscopy to share? Maybe just to put my mind at rest.

I had a transvaginal scan Thursday which discovered one if my ovaries has doubled in size. I'm in a lot of pain, comes in waves.
Trying to get a doctors appointment (easier said than done) I'm slightly worried as cancer runs rife in my family.
No pain killer seems to touch it, sex is so uncomfortable!
I have psco also.

I had this removed along with a clean up on my left side as well. They did make a small incision on my lower abdominal (laparotomy). I will warn you it’s very very painful and the recovery time is going to be about 6 weeks. I had the exact same pain before my surgery I totally know what you are going through. the pain brought me to my knees somedays. I was almost at the point of going into EMERG and telling them I had been vomiting and all sorts of things just so I could get this surgery done. It really sucks that they make you wait but just know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Think of 6 weeks of rest
When you do have the surgery they will ask you for a regular general anesthetic (put you to sleep) with morphine for pain afterword or a spinal injection to freeze your lower half with a general aswell. I went with a regular general and it was awful. I should have went with the spinal to freeze my lower half b/c I was in a lot of pain coming out of GA. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Im so sorry your going through this i hope you get what you need soon
PEACE

I am a little stuck at the mo as I have to live off of liquids for the next month until the meds kick in. Eating is a real pain at the moment, there really is nowhere for the food to go. They also think that the fact my periods have stopped is nothing to do with the pill, but sudden weight loss (some I may not have noticed due to the size of the fibroid).
I am struggling doing nothing at the mo, but really don't want anything to rupture.
How long have they given you off for recovery?
I am a little nervous now as I thought I would be in, out sorted etc etc.
Wishing you a speedy recovery x x

I am feeling o.k. and seem to be recovering fairly quickly, but keep forgetting I need to let myself take it easy and am getting frustrated as I cannot do what I would normally.
I am starting to recognise what I can and can't eat, but don't really want to be on blended food for the next month, still losing weight, but that should not be for too long. Any pain is up and down, today a good day, yesterday not great. Walking still pretty uncomfortable though.
I should imagine a combination of quite major surgery and all the hormones are causing you to be emotional, I am not surprised you are feeling all over the place.
I hope things improve for you, it may get a little worse first, but you will definately feel better soon. I am sure. Thinking of you and hope you are feeling better soon x x

I am am getting better so slowly, I understand why they sign you off for six weeks. It's a slow process. Can't explain how happy it am to have had it done though and the run up is really the worst bit. I haven't really been in too much pain, sore yes, but if I keep on top of my pain killers then I am fine. It's so nice to be able to breathe and eat properly too, no stabby leg pains or numbness, no nausea and my skin is already clearing up!! Sending you well wishes!

how are you feeling after your keyhole surgery? Any news on what happens next with your fibroids. I can't remember where we left off!
Hope you are ok! X

As for me, keyhole no problem really healing very quickly and nothing compared to the pain I was in on arrival at the hospital. The briusing from my kidneys has hurt and I am having to eat fairly small meals or blended stuff otherwise a very painful back.
Next steps 3-4 months of Zoladex implant injections to shrink the fibroid, then laparotomy after the wedding. Hoping to see my stomach shrinking, but injections take about a month to work. Outlook looks good though.
How are you feeling now?
You sounds like you are on the mend, slowly but surely. The only thing I am struggling with is not doing too much. I am guessing that I probably won't be in such a rush after the laparotomy later on in the year. Pleased and relieved to finally know what is happening and the consultant has been really good.
Well wishing you a speedy recover, look after yourself and let me know how you are getting on x x

I am not too bad at the moment have had 3 or 4 really good days. Still struggling to eat lots, my last full meal was a couple of months ago. Yesterday I managed to eat half a meal, not bad. F
Had a scan recently, not sure whether the thing has shrunk. It is bigger than my scan (which was February) but that is the only thing to go by, but smaller than the day of keyhole by the sounds of it. Had to request that scan. They have said I do not need more, although I did point out it may be usefull before my next op. Good news is my kidneys are o.k, they were worried about the effects on them.
Backache is not so bad, although weirdly can only sleep witha cushion supporting me. Last weekend was bad, but they have upped the meds if I need them.
Good news is my wedding dress has arrived and fits (it's huge!) didn't realise how much weight I have lost. Next aim is being able to eat a full meal at the reception.
No date as yet for next op, but hoping it will be mid August straight after our party. I am bored of waiting and of eating soups etc.
Hope you are recovering well, we have not heard much from you so was hoping all is o.k?
Are you back at work at all?
I am finding I am sleepin a lot at the moment, I can do something for an hour or 2. Then have to sleep for an hour or 2. Although the positive is the fact I have had so many good days recently with very little pain.
