Just found a fantastic video on You Tube that has simply the best explanation of correctly diagnosing LPR and also listing all surgical and natural fixes.
Just do a search for "Laryngopharygeal Reflux Beamont Hospital". It really opened my eyes!

Had full blown acid reflux for 30 years. Accidentally changed life style and it went away and changed to LPR - zero heart burn and zero regurgitation. So symptoms are irritated throat at night, some sinus, dry throat during night needing water and Aqua spray (saline with sadly a few nasties). This is on a no grains, no sugar, no dairy diet with no food after 5:30PM. Can get you down having to be so disiplined but my dad died of a bleeding cancerous throat so I do have a massive incentive. Siblings all have gerd and hernias BUT keep taking huge doses of Nexium and Pariot and dont believe in what I do. Interestingly they STILL get strong acid in the throat to the choking stage! The band aids I use are Aple cider vinegar, slippery elm with 4 tablespoons of aloevera, Buderim ginger etc. gaviscon tabs to fix the odd bad night. Totally shed PPI's and ranitidine. DGL made that possible and I take 6 a day. Hope this is of some use. Hope to be totally systom free in 6 months with the bed back on the floor!

I've just watched the YouTube video - it was excellent. The symptoms described are very much like my own - I'm due to see a specialist shortly after Christmas and believe that the diagnosis will be LPR. I've been prescribed PPIs and have already made big adjustments to my diet as recommended in the video. These changes have been helping. I've been resting my voice as much as possible (my singing voice has gone completely). Thank you very much for drawing my attention to the video.

Hope you got through Christmas without too much trouble. It's a bit of a struggle isn't it? I was interested in what you said to another member about slippery elm and aloe vera. I've thought about taking both of them myself but didn't know anyone who had used either of them, so I'd be interested to hear your experience and how effective you think they are.
