Laser retinal repair after effects 17 years late

I had laser surgery in left eye to repair a torn retina in 2004 . Over the years I had a build up of scar tissue and had an epiretinal peel, vitrectomy, new lense in 2013. Now in 2021 I have started to have bad flashing in the eye, have seen Surgeon who has thoroughly checked retina and found nothing other than the obvious scars from the original laser repair. He feels that after time the area around the laser surgery can cause cells to form which causes the flashing that I am currently seeing. Hopefully my brain will accept this. I am also having vitreous detachments in my other eye which as we all know causes floaters and flashing. Anyone out there had side effects so much later after laser repair?
