Last throw of the dice maybe

Visited the specialist last week and we are kind of having one last throw of the dice before we consider whether I need to go back in for surgery for a permnament ileostomy...
On the following drugs to see if they will do anything...
A 5 week course of prednisolone (5 wks makes me nervous!)
mebeverine 135mg
metronidazole
and Pentasa 1g sachets
Anyone have any experience of these? I kno wthe metronidazole is a pretty potent antibiotic type drug - absolutely no alcohol and none for 48hrs after I finish the course - I don't drink so it makes no difference to me - but familar with the rest except the Mebeverine...

google clinicaltrials register to see if there are any that are yet recruiting for your disorder...I would travel to Mars for a FMT for CD, UC, or CDI.
The described meds in combo are a tad crazy or from my perch...I've but one personal experience with flagyl and it cured one type of CDifficle. But with home made yogurts several times a day during treatment. Also took EPA/DHA during the process.
Should you not find a suitable trial, and go ahead with this cocktail of meds, be sure to supplement heavily with probiotics and psyllium husk and seed as tolerable.
Wish I had other more benefical advice. Regardless, wish you well, refrain from using basic google, use google scholar or plos one.

prednisolone were great for me when my colitis flares. mebeverine are often given to ibs sufferers to help with stomach cramp & I believe it is either an anti spasmodic or muscle relaxer specifically for stomach/intestines.they help some people but not everybody. It didn't help me. the metronidazole as you know strong anti biotic often used for intestinal problems. I had these for 2wks at the beginning of my diagnostics for colitis pending tests, they made me feel worse - diarrea, colicky pain & stomach ache - subsequently found no bacteria or infection anyway so didn't have to continue with them. pentasa is a med for colitis which I had before in tablet & suppository forms. quite good, no side effects experienced, but didnt keep me in remission for longer than about 3/4mths, so changed to balsalazide. It looks like they are throwing everything in by the meds you mention to cover ibs, colitis, & possible bacteria or infection. in my experience of all these meds, the worst one was metronidazole it made me feel awful. Have they done a stool test to see if you have any bacteria or infection to see if this med is necessary? I only say this as the other meds in combo may well help you, but the metronidazole may make you feel worse & experience side effects, so you will not know if the the other 3 would benefit you (leaving out the metronidazole I mean). Hope this helps, good luck.

No stool tests done but a chat with the gastro specialist and it feels like lets have a go at sorting this out and see if it works!
