Late period, what could be the cause?

Hello, ladies, doctors and everyone who reads.

I am not a lady myself, but I am worried about my girlfriend. She is on 35th or 36th day of her monthly cycle, but she is late, she did the test and it turned out negative. She says that she isn't even feeling the period coming, and it puts quite a lot of stress on her as it does on me. Any one has any ideas why it could be that she is late and how can I help her get to it, so she is relieved of her stress.

Regards, Renars.

Heyhey concerned bf. I do have friends who have their auntie visit only 3 months to half a year once. The girl friend I have who always was 3 months late tried chinese brown sugar and it helped her issue. I always had mine as late as 60 days for more than a year and I followed her to take chinese brown sugar and from then my period has always been regular without fail until now. Maybe your gf can try too. Let me know if you wanna find out more;)

    Hey Renars,

Honestly, periods are funny things and sometimes they are just late or have weird timings! Sometimes a cycle can be really short, sometimes it can be really long - a month is average, but anything from like 21 days to 40 is pretty normal. (This can vary between women and the same woman too!)

A few things can also affect if your period is late aside from pregnancy, such as stress ( you said that your girlfriend is pretty stressed, maybe this could be why?), extreme weight loss or gain, even if you do lots of exercise. Hormonal contraception (like the pill or implant) or changing between two types can also affect how regular periods are - has she changed contraception at all recently?

Basically, all sorts of things can affect the menstrual cycle, and that's on top of our normal body hormones!

If her period still hasn't arrived after a little bit longer or she's experiencing any other unusual symptoms, then she can always give her doctor a call, but I really wouldn't worry for now 😃

    Good luck!

    Jess
