Lateral anal fissure... anyone have one that wasn’t caused by something “bad”?

I've had a fissure in the 3:00 position for several months. Sometimes it bleeds a lot with a BM, sometimes not at all. It can be painful during and after a BM but nothing like the excruciating pain some describe. A few months ago I think I had a hemorrhoid right above it that has now gone away (had the fissure before the hemorrhoid). But the skin there is very loose now and there is a tiny hard bump on top of that skin. Had the gyno take a look during my yearly exam. She did see the fissure but had no idea about the bump. She's referred me to a colorectal surgeon. I wasnt really worried until Dr. Google said that lateral fissures are rare and the cause is nothing but a string of "bad" underlying issues, the worst being cancer. Does anyone have experience with a lateral fissure? THANKS!

Hi
Did your fissure end up healing?
I am in the same boat! for the past 2 years i have had fissures at the 6 and 3 o clock positions. they usually heal within a week but recently i have been dealing with quite a bad fissure at the 3 o clock position. I have seen a colorectal doc who wants me to try GTN ointment for 6 weeks and if that doesnt work he wants to run further tests 😦 im so worried, especially of anal cancer.
