my only question bout this process is that the bowel movement should be smooth after op but why most of the people experience pain ? , as this op releases spasm one can defecate without straining in one go . is the pain because of sutured wound ? how was ur experience post op during defecation ? please let me know too

hi,
the pain is from two things, firstly, you still have a fissure! and 2, you have a nasty wound in a very sensitive area .

I think some bruising takes place for a week or two after LIS.
Psychologically, the fear of the pain remains for a long time.
Sitting in hot bath even after surgery helped reduce the pain.

LIS only helps heal the fissure. it doesn't automatically close it.
so after surgery, you will deal with the incision pain as well as the regular fissure pain until both heal. it can take 6 weeks for everything to heal.

well the incision doc makes ,he closes it with sutures , don't they ? they can't leave an open wound out there inside anus?

yes, in most cases they do. but there will obviously still be pain because your muscle has been cut. and there's the possibility of the stitches coming undone.

my first LIS was so conservative, i barely felt any surgery pain. felt normal the next day. the LIS failed because of how conservative the cut the CRS made.
my second LIS was done by a different surgeon. it was done correctly and the pain was really bad, my first bm was awful because it was going through a fissure that had been scraped of all scar tissue (fissurectomy), as well as the incision on the other side. pain peaked day 3. it was 10/10 level pain. then eventually calm down by day 4 and gradually got better.
it took me 2 weeks to recover from surgery.

advice for post op healing
take 2-3 showers a day. keep the area clean. don't use soap on it.
avoid sitz baths because you don't want the stitches to dissolve in the first 2 weeks.
clean with water only, get a portable bidet. and dab it dry. avoid wiping.

hi, i cant stress how much sitting on a very hot what bag after BM helped me. without it I simply don’t think I could’ve got through it! . the pain was that intense. 1 year only I'm still suffering after some BMs and still sit on the bag for 10-20 mins and the pain stops

hi,
I would not say the surgery was a failure, I literally could not live any longer with the pain I was in, my life was not a life prior to LIS, but it is now manageable at least. I don’t know why I haven’t healed properly I guess that’s the torment of these bloody fissures! Prior to LIS i tried botox, it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! In fact I don’t think it should be used for fissures, I’ve never heard of anyone having success and the ones that may, might have been healing anyway.

i agree every situation is different. I would be happy to see more support groups for people suffering badly from anal fissures. I've been through some tough times, but no much compares to the excruciating and debilitating pain that comes from an anal fissures at its worst. I have people being suicidal and i completely understand that. There needs to be more support for this chronic FU%#ing THING!!

yeah i agree people just kinda underestimate the pain one 's going through ,it can be so hard that one might contemplate suicide , just coz they can't see it they think it isn't life threatening , more support groups , specialist doctors should take care of people suffering from this stupid disease ,but no one's out there supporting us coz they don't think it to be as lethal as cancer😭😭😭
