Lauricidin, anyone?

I've been taking monolaurin capsules since the end of July with mild but good results. I've read a lot about monolaurin helping people with EBV and other infections, specifically the brand Lauricidin. However, Lauricidin isn't available at my local vitamin shop, which is why I just went ahead bought the capsules. The capsules I bought contain 500 mg of monolaurin per capsule and I would take 2 capsules twice per day. Lauricidin, on the other hand, has 3000 mg per scoop (in pellets). So, after reading some major success stories about Lauricidin/monolaurin in general and having some minor success myself, I went ahead and bought Lauricidin.
The label and website recommend 3 scoops per day (which sounds like overkill, if you ask me), but also to slowly build up to that dosage to avoid die-off symptoms (aka the bodies reaction to rapid viral decay). Though die-off can make you feel sick, it's considered a healthy response to new medication/supplements and actually indicative of it's effectiveness.
Having taken monolaurin of a different brand for a few months now at 2000 mg per day, I decided to jump right in to taking 2 scoops of Lauricidin at 6000 mg per day. And die-off has certainly been present since I started taking it.
At first I was optimistic about the die-off symptoms, but after over a week of going through it, I'm becoming a bit skeptical. What's so conflicting about it is that I've experienced both a positive and a negative response to it. In a lot of ways, it feels like I'm going through a typical relapse of the original mono symptoms (faster than normal heart rate, malaise, headaches, dry skin/lips, mild sore throat and sleeping issues) along with some new, strange symptoms like involuntary muscle twitching. That being said, I do feel genuinely less fatigued and foggy, which I have always said has been the worst and most debilitating of my symptoms. I feel both better and worse, and I'm not sure if I should just muscle through and keep taking the supplement or if I should discontinue it. I'm LOVING the energy but HATING the other symptoms.
con for discontinuing the supplement: if this die-off reaction is real and a good sign, then discontinuing the supplement would throw away the progress I've made already.
con for continuing the supplement: if it's not actually working, it's just making me sick and is a set-back to getting healthy again.
My current plan is to continue the supplement through this second week, and if die-off symptoms haven't subsided by then, to cut back on it or cut it out completely. I will keep you all updated on improvements or lack thereof, but I'm curious if anyone here has taken Lauricidin or any anti-viral medication/supplement that has given them die-off? If so, how long did it last? Did it pay off in the end? Please share as much about your experience as you can!
Thanks π

Hey Willis. I've been on Monolaurin 1200 mg a day for almost a year. My doc started me at 2400 mg a day and it was way too intense. I've been able to tolerate the 1200 mg no problem. While I haven't seen any dramatic improvements, I haven't caught a single cold or flu since being on it. I think, if anything, it can keep us from getting any other sickness which is a huge benefit. My fatigue is still bad and I still constantly relapse, then recover to about 60% and then relapse again. I'm now taking Valtrex 1 gram a day and will take it for 6 months. I'm on week 5 and it's caused quite a herx. But from everything I've read that's a good sign.
Good luck! This virus is the absolute worst. But lots of people here have overcome and I know we can too. π

Hey Lisa, thanks for the reply. What do you mean when you say that 2400 mg was "too intense"? Did you have a herx reaction to it? If so, what were your symptoms? Sorry about the herx from Valtrex π I'm sure it will pay off. Anything to get rid of this miserable and stubborn virus!

it caused a really bad flare of flu like symptoms. As soon as I halved it it calmed way down. The same thing happened when I tried to take 2 g of Valtrex and I had to halve that dose. Eventually I will work up to the higher dose but we are starting slow. And yes β after two years I am so ready to have my life back. Itβs so frustrating and sad!

Hey Willis,
I'm afraid that having not taken monolaurin or any kind of anti-viral before I don't have any knowledge or experience of this at all. Lisa is always great to listen to she talks sense! I hope that others with experience of that medication can post on here and offer some good advice / help on the subject.
I really empathise with your predicament and just wanting to do the right thing from reading your post Willis, hoping and praying so much for improvement for your health. Just a word of encouragement that even for those who go through an extended time of illness and suffering with this virus, the vast vast majority of people make a full and complete recovery. I hope and pray for you Willis just wanted you to know I was thinking about you. I know it was only down to God that I was able to get through this dreaded virus and with His mercy get back to good health again - I believe truly that God is going to get you through this too and that you will be fully well again with time.

thank you so much Craig. its really great of you to still be on this forum offering all of us encouragement! it's hard to come by genuinely selfless people nowadays, so I (along with the rest of us, I imagine) am very grateful for you.

Oh thanks for the kind words Willis, but truly it's only because I know how deeply this virus affected me and how awful it was to go through it that I want to come on and encourage you and others that despite this truly being a terrible experience to go through, there is hope and there is light at the end of the tunnel with it all.
I too would have considered going on anti-virals because I was struggling so much and wanted so desperately to be better - I wish I was able to offer better advice on this but I'm afraid I can't. But the thing I do want to offer Willis is that even without anti-virals, this thing does get better with time and patience, and truly you will get back to FULL health again - not 60% or 80%, but as near as 100% - but it can come in stages so just take it a bit at a time and remember you will get there! Thanks again for being so kind and just hoping and praying for your recovery - remember God is the great healer there is hope today!
