Lavh 4wks ago..new pain in right side?

Hi, I'm new here and would love some advice. I'm 37 and had endometriosis..stage 1 cervical cancer 6 yes go and really heavy irregular periods with symptoms sometimes lasting 3wks out of 4. I've 2 beautiful daughters.

I had all but my ovaries removed 5/11/15 (4 wks ago) with complications.. My bladder was..in the doctors word "welded" to my uterus and I apparantly had a lot of scar tissue which caused "difficulties" my 2hour operation turned into 3 hrs 40.

I was great up until wk3..with only the odd day of feeling unwell and mild pain relief such as paracetamol, ibroprufen and a mild sleeping pill.

I'm very blessed having a husband and children who have done eveverything house related ( with encouragment needed now and then lol) so there's been no heavy lifting.

I went for a 20 minute walk round the supermarket 4 days ago and was unwell the next 3 days with a bad pain in my right side. I went to the doctors today who said I need to continue with my pain relief and there's nothing wrong.my laft side was tender on examination but I nearly hit the roof when she pressed my right side..I do feel a little better in myself today after a bad cpl of days.

I said surely the pain should be getting better not worse. She asked me to do a urine sample in and I have to go back in 3 days..I've a feeling I have an infection but she dismissed that.

So my question is..is it normal to feel this pain?..is it things setting down inside or could I have maybe just overdone it with my walk..I've been pottering around doing little things since the op to op the circulation going plus I have a bad back and don't want that to cease up which so far so good. ..

Thankyou in advance

Joanne xc

Hi joanne. I had my abdominal hysterectomy and bso in May. It took me 4 weeks before I stepped out the house and as soon as I got back in the house and sat and relaxed I was in agony. It took a good 8 weeks before I got back to normal. I went back to work at 5 weeks but I was in so much pain. Luckily enough I have an office job so not a lot of moving around. They got me a foot stool to put my feet up under the desk. It was around 10 weeks post op I started to feel much better. It's still early days for you don't over do it. It can take up to 12 months for you to heal inside be careful because you could end up tearing inside. If you have dvt sox wear them they will prevent deep vein thrombosis

Thanku for your reply Karen..its much appreciated.I do have the stockings..I was told to wear them 24/7 for 3wks then nightly for another 3 which I'm doing..tbh I keep them on a lot with the cold weather plus they are hard to put on rolleyes

I think I need to slow down a little maybe and stop expecting too much of myself..I'm at the boredom stage now and with Christmas looming I'm itching to be out shopping..

I hope your recovery continues well and you have a lovely Christmas smile xx

I had total hysterectomy and BSO in May and it took me a good 6 weeks to feel better. I had a set back at 3 weeks where I felt worse again and was told this is normal and can happen 4 to 6 weeks. If it is excruciating it may be worth phone ward/hospital not Gp and say that you are experiencing excruciating pain especially if tender as they may call you in for assessment to put your mind at rest if nothing else. Hope it sorts soon xx

Thankyou froggy28, if the pain hasn't eased by Thursday I might just do that as I felt I was fobbed off by my GP, I'm hoping its just that I've overdone it and nothing serious. Thank you for your advice xx
