Hi There,

I have severe dry eyes and have been suffering for the last 3 years.

I have recently started using the UK wet ones which seem to have improved things.

I read here that the US ones are better. Is this in terms of comfort or effectiveness as I have had no adverse affects?

Also how should one apply the wipes. Should you scrub the lid margin like you would with a q tip or should you just close the eyes, wipe the lids and let dry before opening?

I would appreciate any advice?

    Dear Lawrence,

Honjon, on this site, was the first to use the UK wipes. He has not been back and he was having good results as he posted about his use. Many have said the UK wipes which have Benzalkonium Chloride in them instead of the US wipes which have Benzethonium Chloride were harsh so they ordered from the US.

I tore the wipes into strips and closed my eye and rubbed a little back and forth across the top lashes as I went along. The bottom lashes I kept the eye opened and did the same motion across the lashes.

I did each lash area 2 times with a different section (I tore it into 8 sections).

It did take over 3 months to kill the Staph on the lashes. I did not miss a day but did it 4 times a day for a week and then down to 3 times a day for a while and when symptoms got less then the last couple of months was just 2 times a day and did not really have to do 2 times for each eye.

This is rather like an antibiotic that if you don't go the full course it comes roaring back. So just because the symptoms are gone don't give in go the whole way.

After 3 months I quit and got an itch so went back for a week. Same thing happened again and did another week. Then it was gone.

If you get into your eye just splash your open eye with water and after cleaning your lashes put in eye drops for lubrication. I used eye drops with no preservatives in them. I still use them quite often and in the middle of the night too.

Anything else just ask and I will get back to you.

    Hope this helps,

I have even more severe dry eyes. The only thing that helps is to was with a drop of tea tree oil, and no tears baby shampoo. I then apply Manuka Honey along the rim of the eye. It stings at first. Then Systane eyedrops. The wet onnes seem to help Blepharitis, not dry eyes. Dena
