Lazy eye, drooping eyelid

For many years one eyelid has drooped if I am very tired. However, recently this seems to be a permanent problem. It is becoming very noticeable in my view. I don't know why at my age (37) that this would suddenly become an issue. I do wear glasses all day and the affected eye is my weaker one. Is this normal or should I seek advice from a GP ?image

A drooping eyelid, called a ptosis, is caused by the levator muscle in the eyelid being or becoming weak. The NHS usually doesnt treat this unless the sight is severely compromised ie the lid covers, or nearly covers, the eye.

I think its a good idea to see your GP for some reassurance and advice. as this rarely can indicate other problems.

If it becomes a real problem to you and the NHS feels it is just cosmetic then you can have a procedure done privately to correct the droop but this will cost you anywhere between £2000 to £5000, depending on the consultant and what he/she decides needs to be done. Maybe something to consider later on in your life?

Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it! I suffer depression and anxiety and the last two years have been the worst and most stressful of my life. Part of me worries that it could potentially be stress related but I think that is unlikely. I will seek some further assurance as you suggested. Thank you again!
