Leep procedure lead to BV?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I was reading an article where a couple of people were complaining after having the leep procedure that they now have BV. They never did say how long just after the procedure. Anyone else have the Loop (Leep) procedure done? I know i have a long time ago and am not sure if that is when i started to have BV issues or if it was before that.

    Hi Samantha,

I had the LEEP procedure done when I was 34, and have had chronic BV since I was 38. I am now 44 and just finished another round of metronidazole, but I am taking heavy duty probiotics that contain rhamnosus and reuteri to try and rebalance the good flora. Also using a product called ActiGel and it seems to help with keeping my ph level where it should be.

I had my LEEP done 3 years ago and I started to have none-stop BV and Yeast Infection every single month from 14 months ago. I never thought the LEEP could be the reason. If this is the reason, it really sucks.

I also had a leep procedure done when I was 20. I have had BV show up on every pap smear since. I don't have severe symptoms, just white discharge very regularly and a horrible awful smell often before or after my period. My GYN/OB always "played it down" and said if I am having no severe symptoms its nothing to worry with treating.. but I have heard that it can cause premature births if you become pregnant. I want this gone before my husband and I begin down that path!
