Left ear ache with blocked feeling + with wave sound

Ok hello everybody,

So 5 day's ago I woke up and my ear was completely blocked no pain or wave sound although now it's a completely different story, my left ear feels completely blocked with a bit of pain and with this weird annoying sound.

Went to my doctor he said it was just a build up of ear wax so he prescribed me ear drops, anyway the next day I went back and saw a different doctor and he said it was an ear infection.

I don't know what to think of it now do you guy's think it could be an ear infection or something else ?

PS: when i burb or yawn my ear hurts more, and sometimes my jaw hurts as well .

Please help with a diagnosis smile

Thank you,

I would suggest you see a GP with a special interest in ENT (ear nose and throat). Some offer the ear microsuction procedure to both NHS and private patients. It is worth going to someone who knows what he/she is looking at when inspecting the ear canal.

Impacted wax can cause sometimes severe inflammation of the skin in the ear canal. Imagine if you had a glove on your hand for weeks on end...this would stop the air getting to your skin and this would become moist and inflammed.

    Where do you live?

you might actually have both: impacted earwax and an infection of the skin in the outer ear or even an infection of the middle ear. The wax will need to be removed, but having your ear syringed/irrigated with water might make the infection even worse.

it is important to keep your ear dry and the wax needs to be extracted by ear microsuction in order to see what is happening behind it.

I had a similar problem about 2 months ago in my right ear, couldn't be diagnosed properly initially and doctors were thinking wax, inflammation, ETD etc, was on antibiotics for 2 weeks.

Just last week I was diagnosed to have sudden sensorineural hearing loss - SSHL, going to get the MRI done today.

Please try to have an ENT specialist opinion.

There might be lots of causes for blocked ears. This could be due to wax accumulation in the ear.

You might have the inner ear infection.. Take a moist towel and place the heat on your ear and just see if that could improve.
