Left hip bone sticks out more than my right

Hi

I have my consultation on Jan 3rd regarding a LTHR

In the last 2 weeks it has deteriorated so bad I now have difficulty walking and need a cane if I'm going over 100 mts.

And today can't put any weight through it at all, also I have noticed the bone on my left hip sticks out more than on my right hip.

Just wandering if this is the natural deteriation of osteoarthritis of the hip or should I be concerned.

    Dear Philip

Sorry to hear that your hip has got a lot worse.   Is the January 3rd appointment just a consultation or your preop?   I do not know if this bone protrusion is anything to be worried about but it does not sound too good to me.   It is not something that I experienced.

    All the best, Richard

It's just the initial consultation Richard, I asked my doctor to refer me back to the hospital after finally deciding to go ahead with the THR.

Just thought I would ask the question about the abnormality of the bad hip to see if anyone else had experienced it.

      Dear Philip

I hope they can give you a date for surgery soon. Have you selected a surgeon with a good record it is this in the future?

      All the best, Richard

Hi Philip I look up bone protrusion in the hip and it could be a bone spur that developed from the bone to bone rubbing. Hopefully it’s something as easy as that.

I had hip bursitis on one of my hips and it was very painful at times. Doctor asked me if I wanted it taken out and I told him I did. I forgot to ask at my follow up if he did.

Best of luck and wishing you a speedy recovery.
