I'm at 16 months almost to the day. it has been a journey. My pain was always in my upper left thigh. I to had anterior left hip surgery. Its not nearly as bad as it was say 4 months ago. Though I had a nerve study done, (which came back normal) i still had pain. After blood work, I found my vitamin B6 levels were off the charts. Since lowering my B6 intake the pain has gone away. It takes time also for your new body part yo get used to its new surroundings. Time is the healer.
Good Luck,
Keith

Hi Linda, I am having very similar pains at 6 months, I am told to massage the thigh area where the pain is - I am using Bio Oil for this, and so far it seems to be working. I am told that a 'massage roller stick' can also help, so I have ordered one off eBay.

I used it following my THR in 2015, first revision 2016, and last year's revision. The original 2015/16 scar has faded so I can barely see it now.
I am using it on my thigh as I am having some deep pains from scar tissue inside the leg when I walk, but not when on my bicycle. It just makes massaging the muscles so much easier.

Yes l am trying it again , see how it goes it did help the scar at first,
Physio gave me a thick rubber band that u put round your knees a and lay down and bring left leg up about 10 times hurts but helps find it hard driving sometimes. LINDA

For peace of mind, ask to have it x-rayed. X

The butt pain could be trochanteric bursitis, not uncommon after hip replacement ...
The side pain could be a tight IT Band ... And often those two conditions go together.
Icing is good ... slowing down is good ... for both conditions ... there is a shot surgeons can give for the bursitis ... there is physical therapy and special stretches ... you can google for the IT Band pain.
I'm 5 months out from surgery and at month 4, I had butt pain ... and I still have that side pain. And so I'm giving you answers that were given to me ... I called my surgeon and talked to the nurse and she was helpful ... Consider calling your surgeon and reporting the symptoms ...
Icing has definitely helped me ... and slowing down a bit ... I had to back off exercising ... and things felt better quite quickly.
