Left knee pain whereas right knee was injured

HI Guys,
?I hope you are doing great. I am here to see if anyone has been in similar situation like me and would like to get some advice.
?In October 2017, I tore my ACL for the right knee while playing badminton. The knee was back in action after 3-4 months of care. I stopped limping too. I haven't operated my right knee yet. I am planning to get it operated in December this year.
?In the past 6 months, all of a sudden my left knee had started paining( yes, the non-injured knee). This pain has worsened with time. It has restricted my activities like going to gym, moderate hike and brisk walking.
?I got my MRI, XRAY, HLA-B27 Antigen test and nothing has come up. Note that my right injured knee is doing fine.
I am not sure why my left non-injured knee is paining. I have tried physical-therapy sessions too but they didn't help much.
?Can anyone tell me what is going on?
Any leads would be helpful .
?Thanks.

I can only go by personal experience but I had a TKR in Jan on my right knee because of numerous injuries over the years left it bone on bone. My left knee is according to the doctors is perfect for someone my age (60) but the last couple of weeks my left knee has been hurting!!! So I talked with my PT team and they said often see folks with a injury in one leg (knee or whatever) start to develop pain in the other leg (knee/hip) they said it happens because the injured leg (or knee) is weaker than the other leg/knee so you are standing with more weight on the "good" leg and/or walking differently.

The good knee is over compensating and doing the work of both knees. The feeling you are getting isn't unusual for any repair that a part of the body had to do double duty. I'm going through the same thing right now. After 11 surgeries and radiation on my left and then hurting my back which will inevitably require surgery My right knee flared up after a cortisone injection. I was supposed to give the leg rest for a few days and restart the core strengthing exercises on both legs. Unfortunately I am caregiver for my wife who has advanced Parkinson's disease so I had to modify my exercises to include back and legs. After a couple months of working with exercise bands and light (2 lb) ankle weights my kné is much better with a bend of 1 3 5 without pain. The oft cut on knee is 115 with pain and my back is still in a 7-10 rage of pain continually as I am on the go continually caring for my wife of 60 years. I checked on trading her in but not much trade in value on a 80 year old with P D so guess I just make minor repairs as needed and keep her😁.
You have some work to do but go to the icing and rest routine till most of the pain has been reduced and then start the rebuilding process slowly. Check out Chico Marx on this forum. He has some fabulous ideas for your issues. Don't expect it to get better quickly so give it time and effort.
