Left shoulder injury

The end of august I was lifting a box over my head to place on a shelf and my shoulder popped. It was a little painful but was really weak almost right away. I seen a family dr and was sent for an mri 2 weeks after the injury. The mri showed no tear and a small amount of fluid. I started physical therapy 3 times a week for 6 weeks. That made the pain worse. So i have been sent to physiatrist and he sent me to a neurosurgeon because i am having pain in my arm and neck. The neursurgeon said its def a shoulder injury and the pain in my neck is just tense muscles and common in shoulder injuries. He wants me to see a shoulder specialist. So over 4 months of pain and still no answers. My symptoms are, pain when laying on that side, pain when lifting small amount of weight, arm pain and weakness when fixing hair or any over head reaching, bicep pain and pain that goes down to my wrist. What could be causing this pain and could something be torn and not show up on mri?

The physiatrist was going to try the shot but workers comp wanted me to get a cervical mri because they thought the pain was not due to the injury. My cervical mri showed disc protrusion and punctate annular tear at c5-c6 causing mild stenosis, linear syrinx in the cervical cord, C4-5 minimal centeal disc bulge, linear area of increased signal on T2 and STIR sequence images within the cervical cord from C4 through C7. The surgeon said that this would cause pain im having. I am waiting to for an apt with the shoulder specialist. I feel like i may have already gotten the shot if i was paying with my own insurance. Workers comp is also wanting an emg/ ncs so that apt is next week.
