Left side flank pressure

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have had left side flank pressure for 2 years now, I had a slight trace of blood in urine and a trace of protein as well, had all tests on bladder and including cystoscopy but everything is clear, there is a cyst on my left kidney but the uroligist said it would not cause pressure and nothing to worry about. I do have osteoarthritis and he thought it could be some kind of spondylitis has anyone had the same?

    Dear Lyn,

Sorry to hear of your problems. It's most distressing when no one can find a cause fior these symtoms. I can't identify with any of your symtoms apart from large intestine difficulties. I really hope you will find a cause soon.  Eric

Please have them check for Nephroptosis - aka Floating Kidney ... it is common when all tests show relatively "Normal"

Hello Lyn. I was interested to read your post. Over the years I've had numerous kidney infections and seversl stones removed. I've suffered right side flank pain for the last 5 years. At my 6 monthly check ups they found nothing except several cysts in right kidney.Like you,I have been told it was "an incidental finding" and nothing to worry about. To "muddy the waters"I have a  spinal arthritis and the doctor believes this to be the problem. It's hard to argue when they're not concerned, but I believe that kidney cysts can and do cause pain. So I can identify with your problem. What to do about it is a deifferent matter!!! Dorothy.

I'm sorry to be "Pushy" but I am Praying I can Help You find Relief with Information and possibly lead you to an Accurate Diagnosis 😀

I am so Passionate to EDUCATE Anyone Who could Benefit Because I was at the end of my Fight when I Stumbled upon this Myself...My Husband and Children were exhausted from my Absence in Our Lives... Everything was a Struggle, Completing a Simple Sentence in a Conversation Required Focus because of Brain-Fog ... It was Soo Much Effort because KIDNEYS control Every Part of Our Bodies (I didn't realize how AWESOME they Are lol)

After 6.5 Agonizing - Horrible- Emotionally Traumatic Years of Hearing everything from "Kidney Stones, Kidney Infection, Appendix, Spinal Arthritis, Fractured Ribs, Adhesion Disease, Endometriosis, Ovarian Cysts... TO... You're Crazy, Your Depressed, Seek Rehab for Addiction because there is nothing wrong- Right Flank Pain is Not a REAL Pain"

I Finally Found a Diagnosis That Fit My Symptoms *ALL OF THEM!! 😂 and I had the Surgery to Resolve the Imaginary Right Flank Pain On March 12th 2015 ****LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN!!!

      Google: Nephroptosis; aka Floating Kidney

it's a Forgotten Diagnosis in Medical School Study Material but those of Us who Suffer Haven't Forgot

      Basically-

... My Right Kidney Dropped onto my Hip whenever I was not Laying Perfectly Flat in Bed.

The Pulling of the Ureter Caused my Spine to Curve and added stress on my Vertebrae *Leading to my Complaint "My Spine is On FIRE 99% Of the time!" ... along with about 25 other Excruciating Symptoms ...

This Condition is Not Rare, However, It Is RARELY Diagnosed Accurately and almost never before Many Years of Unnecessary Procedures (I've had 16 Surgeries)... and many Give Up after being convinced they are simply Seeking Attention or Pain Medication.

The ONLY Way To Diagnosis Nephroptosis; is either an "IVP Laying Down AND STANDING UP" this is a Simple Series of X RAYS with Dye Injected thru an I.V. but Most Doctors do not Order with a Change in Position from Laying Flat to Standing Up 😉

Also a Sonogram of the kidney (With a Change In Position) can provide enough evidence to order the IVP...

Hello Dorothy thank you for the reply, I do find it a little strange that I can see which looked like quite a large cyst but my urologist is quite sure that would not feel pressure, it feels like I have something growing there it's mostly when I am sitting down or laying down on my back, it does not bother me when I am standing or walking, this all started when I had a trace of blood and protein in my urine could not see that it was blood but it was sent off and it did affect me urinating a lot a first that's why they sent me for a cystoscopy which I had and an ultra sound, I have had times when my urine was quite brown but they still insist that it's not the cyst just said the pressure was spondylitis I do have osteoarthritis but this feels different.. Thank you for your time... Lyn

After re - reading your message I realized:

SPONDYLITIS (if you were born with it as I was) is Common to have Urinary Issues As Well... Such as Nephroptosis 😊 The Corrective Surgery is SUPER EASY and You Feel Relief IMMEDIATELY!

I was unaware that I did not have a Curve in my Right Flank as I did on the Left? My Right Side was Straight from my Ribs to my Hip. Putting Shoes on was tough because I couldn't bring my knee towards my abdomen ... due to a "Full - Heavy Feeling" in between my belly button and hip?

The Constant Fire Ball in my Right Side was sending me over the edge to say the least... Hot Flashes, Chills, Night Sweats, Nausea, and the list goes on and on...

Praying for You to find a Resolution ☺
