Left-sided chest pain and burping

Hi there,

Every so often I get these 'attacks' of left-sided chest pain (pectoral area) accompanied by frequent burping. They typically last a few days and the symptoms are constant throughout. I'm currently in the midst of an attack, which has lasted longer than usual as it's been ongoing for about a week.

The pain isn't severe and it's more of a discomfort, but the fact it's there - and in that particular area(!) - is quite frustrating and anxiety-inducing. I recently had an ECG which was normal which is reassuring in terms of cardiac concerns, but it does still make me a bit anxious. I also get a little pain in upper back (left side again) around my shoulder blade area, and the chest pain itself sometimes feels like it's going under my armpit. I also feel like I sometimes need to take a deep breath but when I do they're often not 'satisfying' enough. In terms of the burping, I can actively make myself burp when I get these attacks by moving around. Winding my left arm round and round seems to be a good way, and I always seem to burp without fail when sitting up from a laying position. I very rarely bring up acid when I burp generally, although occasionally burps are accompanied by a mild burning pain in my throat.

I've done some research online but I wanted to see if anyone else has had these exact symptoms. These attacks really wear me down when I get them as it's very difficult to focus on anything else.

I'm a 29 year-old male.

Thanks so much.

Hi the pains i get seem similar to yours except mine is a severe burning sensation in the muscle area you describe. Usually its only brief but has on occasions lasted up to half an hour. It seems to build in intensity almost becoming unbearable. I find heat helps soothe it and i also rub on pain relief gel.I can find no reason for it as i too have had many ecg's and bloods done due to fear it is my heart. I also burp a lot but i have a history of acid indigestion which i had under control for a while. Recently i was found to have gallstones too.
