Left Testicular and Left Leg Pain

Im in my mid 20s. I have been suffering from testicular and leg pains for almost 4 years now, and I have not find a way to treat these issues. My left testicle started hurt suddenly with a sharp pain. I went to my family medicine and diagnosed as epididymitis (I wasn't sexually active). So my doctor prescribed a doxycycline (antibiotic) and 600 mg of ibuprofen. After taking this medicine somehow the pain went away. Every time, pain comes back randomly, I got a same prescription, but the pain started to spread into my left leg, inner thigh, and center of my left bottom foot. It get's worse when I walk and sometimes I get pins and needles around tesicular area which makes me think it's a problem with the nerves. Sometimes the pain doesn't relate to how much I'm moving though, it can just randomly get bad, I actually first experienced the pains while laying in bed. I feel like sitting on the chair makes it worse. Since doxycycline did not work, I went to different doctor and prescribed a GABAPENTIN because he thought that lumber scoliosis ( the X-ray from 6 years ago shown minor scoliosis) causing a pinched nerve. At same time, this new doctor recommend chiropractic to adjust my scoliosis. I went to chiropractic for 8 month (which didn't help with pain) while taking GABAPentin. GABAPENTIN DOES reduce the pain, but it does not treat or cure the leg and testicular pain. I also had ultrasound 3 times (2 from family medicine 1 from urology) and diagnosed that I have tiny kidney stone on the left kidney, but doctor told me this size of kidney stone does not cause any problem or pain. Urologist told me that my left testicle is larger than right testicle (maybe this is a sign of varicocele?), but he said it is normal. Lastly, I took X-ray around my lumbar and sacrum area to see if there are any pinched nerve, but nothing was wrong.

What I realized is that when I put my pillow between my low back and upper hip for 15-20 minutes, it reduces the pain. My conclusion is either I have some kind of prostate problem (such as Benign prostatic hyperplasia because I have frequent urination and delay in starting urination) and varicocele. I really want to fix the problem and get rid of the pain. I'd be really grateful for any feedback, thanks.

It started with sharp pain around left testicle, but now it became dull pain. The pain level increase when I sit on the chair for long time.

Hi GK135, I have the exact same symptoms as you that effects both left and right side testes, both legs and both feet, the right side is far worst though. I've had this problems for 14 years now, I've tried all the strong medicines available, but none really work. I was first diagnoses with epididymitis and was given antibiotics, but the pain would always come back after finishing the course. I've had several ultrasound scans over the years and have always been diagnosed with small varicoceles and two small epididymal cysts. I've had a MRI on my back and a CT scan on my abdomen and legs, all results came back fine (no abnormalities, no trapped nerves). Also had my prostrate checked several times which was all ok. These past two years the pain has become a lot worst, sitting down, standing, walking, even wearing clothing all makes the pain worst, its debilitating. My varicoceles are now 3.1mm and 2.5mm in size, still not visible on the outside scrotum though, but I've now been offered a varicocele embolization, also a microsurgical varicocelectomy. Thankfully I have found a marvelous urologist who has agreed to go through the list of procedures until one works, medication is the first approach, then nerve blocks can sometimes help. It all depends what your scans throw up and what your urologist wants to offer you, lots of options such as Varicolcele Embolization using metal coils, Varicocelectomy (cutting the veins), Cyst removal, or removal of part or all of the Epididymis, Micro-Surgical Cord Denevation, and finally removal of the testicle itself. I myself am so ready to have my testes removed, suffering 14 years of pain is certainly taking its toll om me. What country are you in, there are several of us men suffering with similar issues like these. How did your pain start, can you remember if you strained, lifted something heavy, or a sports injury, what is your work profession?

I live in United States. I do remember that I have minor punch (it was not extreme trauma) on my left testicle. This incident happened long time ago (maybe more than 10 years ago). Other than this accident, I do not remember any major trauma around my genital area. I am researcher who works in the laboratory which requires a lot of standing. Have you done any procedure other than going for testicle removal?

I've had a ilioinguinal nerve block which brought me short term pain relief, I'm currently waiting for a varicocelectomy, this is where they cut and tie off the swollen veins.

Hello We5t. If you do not mind, please let me know the outcome after having a varicocelectomy. I hope you can get rid off the pain.

This is just my guess, but do you think high blood pressure can relate to testicular pain? I notice I am having high blood pressure (between 130/80 - 140/90) since I had testicular and leg pain.

If you have some varicoceles (swollen veins) then I believe so, yes.

hi, I started having exactly the same symptoms, my left testicle hurts and so is my left leg, it just started this morning but as the day goes the pain is getting sharp, so I googled it and I ended up here, so i was wondering if you got better or what did you end up doing to make it go away.

Im really scared and dont wanna go to the doctor just for them to tell me is something that is not, and go through all you went through for nothing,

but as i am laying down in bed the pain just wont go away, i've already taken some pain killers and the pain just wont go away, i mean i can still deal with the pain but im afraid its gunna get worse and i wont be able to tolerate it no more!

what do you think i should do?

      Hello Charlie,

I ended up replying late to your reply. I went to the urologist (one of the top hospital in US), and ends up doing ultra sound and CT again; also urine test to check any infections in bladder. After these check ups, the urologist refer me to neurologist because urologist think that there is know way that symptoms are related to urology problem based on all the testing I have done so far. So I ended up w. neurologist, and had MRI for sacrum and lumber to check if there are any pinching nerves. MRI showed nothing. To sum up, I have done x-ray, CT, and MRI lumber & sacrum area (plus multiple ultra sound on abdomen and bladder area). Neurologist offer me to do electric conduction test to detect which nerve or nerves are having a issue, but I haven't done this test yet.

BECAUSE I found the way to treat this problem for myself. I am just going to tell you how I treated myself, and I hope it helps. The main problem w/ this issue is not doing enough lower body exercise. I knew that long time sitting is really bad for your hip, sacrum, and lumber area, but never thought working out lower body help to get rid of the testicular and leg pain. The MAIN workout I did was SQUAT and LEG PRESS. I do these work out at least 3 times a week and it gets rid off the pain every single time I do my lower body workout. I still do have pain coming sometimes due to long time sitting during the day, but these lower body exercise really do get rid off the pain in testicular and leg pain. Since I paid my deductible for insurance this year, I might just go get a electric conduction test.

The way we sleep can have an effect on the body the next day. If pain goes away when you lay a certain way, it means, that it could be a muscle issue or blood flow.

i have similar pain, but started first on my pubic bone and went to my testicle. and inner thigh. I though I have an infection with ureaplasma urealyticum as my girlfriend has it as I had frequent urination as well and even erectile disfunction, but after antibiotic treatment I still experience the pain more like burning on my leg. I am also thinking it is mental but cannot trust that as it all started with flu symptoms and with this New girlfriend. Have you seen and improvement.

Woow, at first I thought I wrote this because I have the same exact thing!

Back in 2017 after my exam I sat for like 3 weeks in front of my pc, I rarely moved, I ate, then pc and sleep.

In July 2017 I started having pain in my left testicle, it got worse to the point where it was unbearable.

So I had an ultrasound that my doctor prescribed at the time thinking it was an emergency (torsion).

At the hospital the doctor told me it was epididymitis when he checked, during the ultrasound nothing abnormal was detected.

So I had to put up with the pain.

A few weeks later the pain went in my left leg, it like transfered itself, I found it strange, the pain in the testicle was still here but slightly.

Back then I went to see my doctor a second time, he said he didn't know what it was so he prescribed an MRI of the leg and rehabilitation of the left leg.

With graduate school coming up I didn't have time to do the MRI nor the rehab, I was moving around a lot because I was in another city.

I have had this pain for almost 4 years now. I got used to it, a heaviness, a pain not easy to localize, it seems uniform, in all the leg and from time to time to the foot, I always have a kind of small discomfort, heaviness at the level of the left testicle. The pain is bearable but it gets worse from time to time for some reason, sometimes it is very annoying, it prevents me from concentrating and even from sleeping sometimes.

But, a few months ago the pain is getting worse. My left testicule doesn't look right for me, it's like if when I'm touching it it increases the pain in the left leg.

(Also just to let you know even thought it may not be related, I've been having pain in my left shoulder and chest since a year exactly, it gives me painful spasms in my chest, like a stabbing sensation, it goes away after a few days and then it comes back after a few weeks.)

At the end of January of this year I had to stop working because I had very, very intolerable painful spasms in my lower back on the left, I could hardly move, it was horrible. Those pains were spasms, like electric shocks for like a few seconds if I move my back. The anti inflammatory drugs helped me and I was better until a few days later it started again, I had to stop working and call a doctor urgently to come and see me, he just pressed gently in the bottom left of my back and I shouted so loud, it was so painful, this doctor said it was muscular pains.

With more pain drugs I was better after a few days.

In March to today I still have a pains and small spams that comes from time to time. Now the pain is going into the left groin and on the top of my left testicule.

I sit most of the time, I don't do any physical activity (something I decided to do but the Covid prevents me from doing it).

So I decided to get those things checked up and also talk about my leg.

My new doctor has told me to make an MRI because he thought it was a herniated disk in my back, I did the MRI end of march and the results said everything was fine.

So my doctor didn't really understand the pains I have in my leg and slightly in the testicule, he told me to do a ultrasound scan of my leg to see if they was any veins issue.

Then last week I had to go to see a doctor because my pains increased in the left groin, took an appointment with a random doctor.

He said it's probably a kidney stone so he told me to do a ultrasound scan to check my urinary system and a urine test.

The next day I was a bit better.

Then this week I did the ultrasound leg scan and results were also fine.

So I went back to see my doctor again and I've talked again about the relation with my left testicule and the leg, so he checked it and by touching the epididymis it increased the pain in the leg.

So he told me to do a scan of my testicule.

My doctors seems invested in the problem which it's good!

So I have a 2 scans to do, I have those in 2 weeks, I will post the results here.

The question is what the hell is it ? I'm getting quite anxious about it.

I'm also thinking about a prostate issue, saw that online today, maybe they will look at it during my scan in 2 weeks.

At least I'm happy that I'm not the only one who's having those issues because I couldn't find a thing online until this site came up.

(Oh and about the left leg pain, anti inflammatory drugs doesn't do a thing)

So 17 years ago i had pain in my left testicle that radiated to my leg, got worse when sitting etc. I had a job where I sat on a hard stool all day, so i went out and bought a nice office chair, hoping that would help. it didn't...eventually i could feel a painful bump at the back of my testicle, like very sharp pain if i touched it. so i went to a urologist, who basically said it was fine and would go away on its own. it didn't go away, i kept going back and getting dismissed. eventually i went to a different doc who IMMEDIATELY diagnosed me with a spermatocele. surgery was scheduled, it was removed (along with vericocele which i also had on the same side). i had some post-op nerve pain but otherwise everything was fine. anyway 2 weeks ago today the same pain suddenly came back. dull pain in my left testicle, pain along bottom of left thigh that gets worse the longer i sit (almost feels like pain after riding a bike for a long time). i can feel a similar painful spot along epididymis but its not as prominent or easy to find as last time. but anyway it seems like another spermatocele. what i dont understand is why it hurts so much, everything i read online makes it seem like you shouldn't even know you have one. so anyway I'll be heading back to the urologist sometime, not sure if they'll recommended surgery again or if i even want to go through it again, but what I'm reading from you guys sounds similar. about a year ago i developed a hydrocele on the right side, its bigger but not as much of a problem, they basically told me to live with it. these things are such trouble! I'm 41 now and my wife and i are done with kids so I'm hoping that allows me more treatment options if they aren't worried about damaging my fertility. anyway I'll bookmark this page and follow up after i visit the urologist.

hi ive been dealing with the same situation for 2 years,It started back when i was 17.I had a reaction my right testicle felt as if it was twisting n burning painfully i couldnt even bare to move.I went to the ER n got checked up.All my tests for std's came out negative except for one. They claim its a antibacterial infection but it keeps coming back,Ive been on doxycycline 100mg n naproxen 500mg.It went away for two months then it came back so they had prescribed me doxycycline 500mg this time n naproxen 500mg .Took my first dose after the second day of taking my dosage i came to find out it was causeing me near syncopes so i went n told my doctor all they did was check me up again n told me the same thing that its epididymitis but they changed my meds to ciprofloxacin 500mg n naproxen 500mg.The meds help but for a period of time seems like everytime it comes back it comes worser.I deal with numbess in my leg sometimes it even gets hard to walk cause my left leg would feel weak n my left side testicles would feel heavy n painful every movement made. The first time i was diagnosed with epidymitis Doctors told me it was my drug addiction with meth that cause it.Its been twos since ive used when i found that out it made me change my ways for the better of myself.Since ive been clean it still keeps coming back yet up to today they dont know what keeps causing it.
