Know the feeling.  Been in same situation as yourself. If the doctor has given you medication take it.  Wish my GP had doing the sme in 2008, and I had not had to wait until 2012, for a diagnosis, as matters had progressed (for the worse-due to in action. Having to now have angiogram.  So believe in GP

Doctors have been very good I only became ill at end of July and have had Cardioversion, Angiogram and ECHO scans since. Now on very heavy medication regime but still feeling out of breath and unable to walk long distances. Drs implying this is as good as it gets from now onwards and was very active before I became ill.

I was on Amiodarone from 19th September (as an in patient) unil last Thursday. My consultant has taken me off this due to recent blood test results which showed up Thyroid and Kidney irregularities. To be honest having read about all the problems it can cause I am glad to be off it. Currently taking Bisoprolol and Losartan, plus Apixaban as Warfarin alternative. On top of that I take two water tablets.

I was twice prescribed Amiodarone and each time had to stop taking it as it affected my eyes, gave me a tremor, an unsteady gait and totally disturbed my equilibrium.

The second time I was prescribed it I had already been taking Warfarin for about six weeks and the registrar did not know that Warfarin should be reduced as Amiodarone drastically affects your INR in the initial weeks. I had to find that out for myself.

Glad you have had a GP who has acted fast.  I am having my angiogram on thursday

.  Still taking 14 tablets a day.  All rides on Thursday. I have been told it is natural not to fell unwell most of the time.  Take care.

I think mine was easier to diagnose as I developed Atrial Fibrilation back in July. By the end of August my weight had rocketed to over 16 stone due to water retention. I was admitted to hospital and given emergency Cardioversion treatment on 21st September and now the weight is falling off me. Hope all goes well with your Angiogram on Thursday they are very routine nowadays.

At the first angiogram I had I lay there feeling the catheter being pushed into my groin. Nothing more seemed to be happening and the cardiologist was not the chatty type. He turned away looking at his monitor and I asked how long does this take? Take? he said, I'm watching the action replay now. All over in ten minutes.

Ask who does it how many he does in a day?  My next one took fifty minutes and he had problems doing it and kept on asking for other sizes of catheters. I later complained to the chief cardiologist who said that it had been part of the learning process for the one who did it.

Have one had angiogram.  Arm went into spasm, but medication sorted that.  Results good.  They have decided because of VT and Af. I am going to have fitted a pacemaker for re-synchrinization purposes.  So glad that at long last they are believing what I have been saying for months.  They reckon it should make my problems lots better,

Cardiologist says my left ventricle is shot.

Hello again. Pleased to hear that Angiogram went well and that you now have some answers and a treatment plan. Sounds like a very similar diagnosis to my own. Since my last post my Cardiologist has recommended me for a Pacemaker. Now waiting on consultation with Papworth hospital. Hope all goes well with your procedure and would be interested to hear how it works out for you.
