I remember my legs feeling really weak. Let the doctor know, but I think it is fairly common.

So sorry you are getting hit with all of these awful symptoms. I know the virus certainly can make you feel weak and weary in any part of the body for sure, do get checked out with the doctor if getting blurred vision or anything that sounds awful to have to deal with. Really hoping you feel better soon and thinking about you still.

I had the weak legs and blurred vision. I had it so bad at one point I could barely walk down the stairs in my house. My vision and dizziness was so bad that I couldn't drive for a couple of months. It's a scary and crazy feeling knowing that a virus can mess you up that bad. They will both go away in time. It might take awhile but they will go away.

That sounds awful to have had to deal with Don, I really hope those horrible symptoms have subsided now. Yes it's important for everyone to remember that these symptoms do go away, and not to panic - it's so impossibly hard not to when feeling that way and dealing with terrible symptoms and pain and horrible emotions at the same time, but just trying to keep remembering that the storm will pass is so important.
Emma everyone here on the forum is thinking about you and rooting for you - we know how difficult a time you are going through and just want to reassure you that you are going to get better and you are going to feel like yourself again. Just cope with each day and try not to focus too much on everything, I know that's very easy to say and hard to do, anything that gives a bit of distraction for a while can be helpful, doing something you enjoy that doesn't take up lots of energy or stress, even just a small simple thing you can do at home.
Thinking of you,
Craig

Yes, I certainly did. I clearly remember the weakness in my legs and in my left arm because I got terrified I had MS and demanded an MRI (it was before I got my mono-diagnosis). I have also had tingling/vibrating/rushing sensations in my legs and arms. Sort of like restless legs syndrome but in my whole body. All of those symtoms have disappeared and I know for a fact it was because of mono and not MS because the MRI was clear. So don't worry!

I thought I had ms too I'm still kind of scared my legs feel very weird and my arms get very weak! I don't feel myself but I think apart of this is from me not sleeping for 2 day I just can not sleep and it's driving me crazy I don't know if the mono is gone or not cause I got sleep one night and I felt myself like 99% I have very bad anxiety and major depression so the doc put me on some meds I am so sleepy and can't sleep I have tried melatonin and benadryl nothing keeps me asleep at night my jaw feels very weird sometimes also.

Oh Isabelle is right Emma, try not to worry about other things because it is most likely that mono is the cause of all the symptoms - remember it causes such widespread, strange and horrible symptoms that it often makes you think that it may be something else when usually it's not - it's just the way this virus gets you. But of course always worth checking in with doc for reassurance.
Really hoping things can settle down guys, thinking of you both x

I have had some really bad insomnia with mono too. It's a very confusing virus as some days I have had an extremely nervous/jittery//high pulse/high anxiety/ feeling in my body along with insomnia and other days I have been like in a sleepy zombie haze, sleeping 14 hours a day and barely having the energy to walk to the bathroom. I definitely have preferred the sleepy hazy state to the high anxiety state even though it has meant zero productivity. Oh and regarding your anxiety, it's definitely also a part of mono! It's what brought me to this forum in first place. With mono I have experienced to most INTENSE anxiety of my life. I have never experienced anything like it, and it was definitely not a result of "negative thoughts" or anything like that. I just woke up one morning with this unexplained fear in my body, like a horrible feeling of pending doom. Fortunately, in a couple of weeks it went as way just as mysteriously as it came. You can find loads of discussions here with people who share the same experiences with mono and anxiety. The virus definitely affects your nervous system and brain chemistry in some kind of way, but it does go away. Hopefully you will get a few nights of long deep sleep very soon! It truly does wonders for the body when you are finally able to sleep. And believe me, the sleep (and getting better) will come!

Thanks so much. How far in are you? I'm almost three months and I have had anxiety before mono I have an anxiety disorder which make me worse! Did your back ever hurt? I'm so tired I feel lost sometimes and it's scary the docs told me I was very depressed so they gave me medication which I have been on for almost like 2 weeks the nurse told me I was sleep deprived I'm just so tired and lost and my body is fighting when I try and lay down when I sleep good then I feel good but if I sleep bad then I feel very bad !

My first symptoms actually started 7 months ago but I got my mono diagnosis just a couple of days ago. So in these past 7 months I have done every test under the sun to find a cause for my symtoms, including an MRI and everything has been 100% clear (except for the positive mono test the other day). The reason no one ever thought to test for mono is because I had it when I was 16 (I'm 27 now) so this is actually a reactivation of the virus which isn't all that common. My symptoms has sort of come and gone in waves since October last year, like you I felt I was getting better at times when I had slept well for a few days in a row, but then I would relapse and be back to square one with all my symptoms if I slept too little or simply walked around too much one day. And about the back pain... YES! Especially between my shoulder blades. At one point i February I had so much pain between my shoulder blades I couldn't lift my arms or rotate my upper body for almost a week. I have also had a very stiff neck and jaw pain. (Plus all the standard symptoms like dizziness, pain in lymph nodes, headaches, nausea, muscle pain, joint pain etc). It has been all the "odd" symptoms like back pain, jaw pain, muscle weakness, tremors etc that has worried me the most through all of this but after finding so many others in this forum who report these exact same symptoms I now know for sure it is all part of the mono. My back pain and neck tension has slowly gone away this past month and a lot of my other symptoms too so I am hoping I am getting closer to full recovery. Still have some fatigue, jaw+ear pain and some joint pain lingering. May I ask your age and if this is your first time with mono?

Hey Emma / Isabelle,
So sorry you're having trouble with sleeping Emma, that really is horrible and I hope that you can manage to get into a better sleeping pattern, hopefully once these tablets are more in your system that will be easier, usually they can help you get to sleep better so hoping this can be an effect that can come.
Isabelle is right that the anxiety is a real and horrible thing that is common to go through during mono. It's awful when you just feel like you don't know what to do to help yourself, you feel tired and weary and weak. It really takes your confidence away when you can't do the things you normally would do, and having extra time to think and ponder on things is so tough too, whch is unavoidable because if you could be active and keeping yourself busy you would be but it's not always possible when feeling so unwell with this
I really hope and pray for a breakthrough for you Emma and for you Isabelle as I can tell from your messages it's been such a traumatic experience for you both - it was for me too and remember there is hope and recovery on the horizon.
Craig
