Leg pain

Posted , 9 users are following.

Both of my legs are burning and aching after I had a total knee repair on my left leg. I am on 3 different pain medication and none of them or working.  The pain is so intense that it wakes me up at night. I am in my 60's and I am at my wits ends.

Sorry to hear about your pain.  I have found this forum very informative with other people's comments on their own symptoms and the various pain medication different people are on.  The pain medication does not always work on different people.  Some swear by a certain pain killer and I've also already had that particular drug and it didn't work for me!  I'm afraid it is trial and error I'm afraid.  Your GP should refer you to the Pain Clinic at a hospital near you.  They might suggest something for you.

At the moment I'm on Oramorph a liquid morphine.  This is about the best drug I've had but even that only eases the pain but it can be used 4 times a day and I only take it 2 times a day.  Morning and late evening before I go to bed.  It helps at night I I don't wake up so many times with the pain now.

I know exactly how you feel though.  I am in my 70's, and the pain certainly gets me down.

i attended my pre-assessment at the hospital today and they have told me all my tests were OK and the operation on my spine is going to be on 9th August.  I'm already both nervous and excited!  The consultant has told me that I might not have a complete cure and also it might not work!  I know though that they have to tell the patient the good and bad news.  So now I have to come off the warfarin and then have injections prior to my op.

So getting back to yourself, I can only reiterate what I have found helps myself, be it not 100% but better than nothing!

Wishing you good luck and hope you will soon be able to sleep at night.

Sounds like you have nerve irritation . You may want to seek a neurologist if that's the case. Nerve pain needs certain medications . Hope that's helpful . And I hope you feel better
