Almost 5 weeks on:- Post Decompression + Foraminotomy Surgery [no fusion] for Lumbar Stenosis.. This was carried out by a top neurosurgeon who deals predominantly with"Complex Spine" problems in the UK
I have Still got some leg pain but now much better, however now i have terrible lower back + tail bone pain , i did not have this pain prior to surgery i only had leg pain. i am now getting quite worried about this & the success of this surgery.
i am finding difficult to walk any distance due to this LOWER BACK Pain which i did not have before the surgery, so the pain is now much much worse than before the surgery, there is a good improvement in the leg pain, but i now cannot walk [ dont want to walk] due to the lower back pain which is much worse than the leg pain i had prior to surgery.
I am hoping some one who has had this surgery can reassure me that it will get better...right now i am regretting having had the surgery.

I am so sorry to hear that you are in so much pain so far out from your surgery. I can't say that we had the same procedure but my experience played out in the normal fashion; extreme back pain, confirmation of ruptured disc ( l5-s1), fusion surgery, sciatic pain from nerves being stretched back out, rehab, and then adjusting to my new back.
That has been 23 months ago but life is great now. To get over my sciatica I combined aqua therapy with gabapentin and it worked for me.
How many other doctors have you visited in the last 7 month's?
By the way, before my fusion my doctor tried a microdiscectomy 4 months earlier and it totally messed me up. I felt worse than I ever had. The fusion albeit sounding awful has really given me a new lease on life. Please keep me informed and seek other opinions if possible.

Ive had several cleanings & fusions done in lower back & neck...11 total. The symptoms you are describing, I had after a lower back, no fusion disk surgery. The end result, Doc FINALLY listened to me & ordered another MRI which showed a bone chip lodged between bone & sciatica.
If I were you, I would ask your doctor to order another MRI, thats the only way you will know what's going on. Make sure your insurance will pay for it.
Good Luck!
