Length of colonoscopy prep

I am doing the Miralax/Dulcolax prep for a colonoscopy tomorrow.  Pretty much fasted for most of 3 days prior.  I'm getting so concerned that I won't even be able to get to the place because I will still be "going".  I've had 2 prior procedures, and neither was still actively working by the morning.  :-((  I actually began it a little early, too.

    Hi Suzanne

I had that problem with my prep - Moviprep - and I too started a bit early.  I made sure I had someone to take me, and horror of horrors, I had an incontinence pad on and took antiseptic wipes with me.  Fortunately, we were able to stop at a public toilet en route (Tesco!!).  Food continued to go straight through me for 24 hours after the procedure as well.  However I have had 3 other procedures, with Picalax and GastroGravin, and both of them had slowed down sufficiently so I had no problem.  So I think it depends on the particular prep and the individual.  If you are concerned, just go prepared.  Good luck

It stops before the procedure. Don't worry. I am very affected by laxatives but they time and measure the doses to avoid that problem and the modern preparations are more precise in effect than the older ones. I had one in 2000 where the laxative was peculiarly violent but even that stopped in time. Good luck!

Don't worry if at worse you'll only have water still left in your colon and this is quite normal I was still going until going in as long as your passing clear fluid it's all OK

    Good luck for tomorrow x

It seems to slow down and stop and then as said it is just a bit of liquid.  Once all food has gone there's nothing else to come out.  Horrible stuff to have to endure it's like putting poison into yourself, hope it all goes well.  Pat yourself on the back for having it done as I got told a lot cancel having it done.
